So.
Have had my v8 soarer nearly 12 months now.
Love it. Its the car I deserve.
Have been trauling the net, as we all do.
Soarer central wins. Best and friendliest.
Basic stuff I could not find on the net.
If you remove rear mufflers and replace with normal tube it will sound just right, and give a bit more power.
Factory space saver wheel for v8 does not fit over tt brakes .don't you hate that.
also check your wheel brace size. factory size is unusually small.
All Toyota bucket seats seem to all have there bottom rails the same distance apart. and seat belts mounted to seat.
Soarer Im thinking is the only 2 door Japanese v8 ever built
except model after. or maybe 2 door crown. please enlighten me.
Now this one will get you going.
I recon an XK8 jaguar is a copy of a v8 soarer. read specs for both. look closely see what you think.
I now have a rule number 1
!. Don't put your foot flat to the floor at 100 klm,s in the wet. It will kick back to second road will start to get wobbly.
Some words of wisdom to leave you with.
Its hard to soar like an Eagle. when your flying with Turkeys
H Growl All thoughts welcome

I am on my 3rd Soarer, all V8s. Had the 1st one for 8 years, shouldnt have sold it. 1991 UZZ30.
2nd one didnt have long, as had 2 at the time, and a bloke I knew wanted one real bad. 1992 UZZ31.
Still have my 3rd one. Have thought of selling it several times, but cant bring myself to do it.
Plus values have gone down too low, so may as well keep it. 1995 UZZ31.
Fantastic car IMHO. Yes they have there problems, what doesnt.
I would love a VVTI 1997. Maybe one day.

Yeah they are giving Soarers away.Ive got three now will probably buy a couple more.
All v8 . All same colour. Green of course.
And to everyone out there wrecking perfectly good soarers. Go your hardest.
The more you wreck. the more mine will be worth.
I am thinking when they get to club reg age,is when their value will start going up.
Whatever. I just like looking at em

Yeah, I totally agree.
I reckon these are in a way like a Japanese made Porsche 928.
Front V8, coup, luxury car, although when buying one you dont see as many with major engine issues fixed or major components replaced like you do Porches.
Porches owners would probably say "dream on poor man".
I am probably easily pleased but I think the soarer is a fantastic car and I reckon prices will start to go up again one day.

Supply and demand, gentlemen. Why do you think I parked my V8 for 3.5 years when it had a few mechanical issues and I couldn't afford to fix or run it? I paid $8,000 for mine in 2007, and you can't even give them away now... but I figure the way some of these guys are stripping them, there will be none left in a decade.

Mine is a 1991 model, but sold with a 1992 compliance plate on it - built Dec '91, left the factory Jan '92. I'll be joining the Toyota Sports Car Club of Victoria when I've got it back on the road, and red-plating it in 2017. After that, I intend to do a major overhaul on it and restore it back to showroom condition. I love the thing... it's such a brilliant car, and I honestly believe that one day the Soarer (especially the V8) will become a cult classic. They epitomise Japanese technology from the early 1990s.

Here's my hot tip though -

If you're thinking of keeping your car long-term, start building up a collection of parts. Soon enough, parts will become harder and harder to come by. So if you see something you think might be useful one day, and you have the money/the price is right/you have the storage to hold it, buy the damn thing. You'll give yourself a pat on the back for it later.

They are a good car no doubt, I'm more of a TT fan personally, but I highly doubt they will go up in Value unless its some mint genuine low km car & possibly only a UZZ32 too ..

See how many are on car sales as far as UZZ31 & TT's go, last time I looked there were heaps ..

There are plenty of other good cars of different makes like some of the BMW 5 series which cost a load when New are now being almost given away, its the flood of cheaper New cars with all the safety gadgets which is driving down the older cars & I think its good for people like us who like the older cars, but I would advise don't buy a soarer as an investment ..

It makes me Smile when you hear Soarer guys complain how cheap they are worth now & most people never paid more than $20,000 for their's & a lot less in most cases & say compare that to a One owner BMW or such who paid well over $100,000 when New for theirs & then sell it for pittance some years later & most don't even say boo about it ..

Paid around the $10k mark for mine but had a major service done. Supercharged m90 and is mechanically good. I haven't had to do any repairs. Only has an oil leak so needs a major service done now. Had it for around 4 or 5 years. Done about 90,000kms. Also chews out tyres. Interior is starting to look its age but paint is perfect and no other issues.

Bought a ford Capri 25 years ago. sat it in the shed for five years. undercoat no motor.
Not much of an investment they said.
They were wrong.x5 in 5 years.
Bought a v8 soarer 6 months ago 88k needs a door and few interior bits. drives like new. super straight.1400 dollars. x5 in 5 years. dreaming mayby.
its possible.
Still nice to look at.

Using the Capri as an example of a 5 fold Investment is not the best comparison as they raced the Capri & going by past History anything with Motor Racing History in Australia, especially Ford & Holden seems to grow in value to some degree & even years ago the Ford Capri was not all that common on the roads compared to the number of soarers that are out there Now ..

If you do the repairs to yours & the rest of the car is Mint you might get your money back if you only spend a Maximum of around a couple of thousand on it, but don't count on the 5 fold increase, but as you said go out & enjoy driving it that's the main thing ..

If the Soarer was the only car out there dropping in value due to some sort of stigma like a housing suburb might have there is a chance it could turn around, but all you have to do is look around at all the other luxury cars out there that were worth even more than the Soarer when they were New & now they are similar money to a Soarer too ..

Not meaning to come across to harsh but if you think the V8 has balls, you better not drive a TT :-) ..

I wouldn't touch a used BMW made after the mid 90's with a 10 foot pole - for starters BMW do everything they can to stop DIYers from working on their cars - just try and find some official technical documentation legally. I guess if you don't mind paying for BMW service centres to do all the work they are an OK buy.

If power was the main goal, a TT would be the way to go. I have been in a couple, and yes they put in. I have my turbo XR6 ute for my power rush.
I like the V8 for the smooth driving, excellent fuel economy for an 8, and with a decent exhaust, a V8 wins all day in the noise factor IMHO

Glen Muller is on the money when it comes to building up a collection of parts. I have spare ecu's (engine and throttle control) for my vvti, spare airbox, TRD Bilsteins, a spare late model three spoke airbag steering wheel etc.

When my car is old enough, ill chuck it on club rego. The V8 is nice to drive as a luxury daily, which my dad owns, (my old v8 with rush headers etc) and the turbo's give you that typical rush. Hard to beat the v8 noise though.

Reliable cars so long as you maintain them and don't go overboard with mods that detract from how the factory intended.

the car still has a "modern shape" to it. people who do not know cars think they are only a few yrs old. Also compare the EMV, touch screen, Japanese gps, TV and sound quality and it is 15 yrs ahead of most other cars.

There will always be a new jap turbo with another 10 kw.
Doubt there will ever be another 2 door jap v8.
And don't they sound nice. except at idle when you cant here them running.

In the time i've had my soarer (2005), i've only had to replace a radiator due to top tank splitting and starter motor (from sitting idle for a year.) Not counting normal maintenance gear.

I have two Soarer's. A TT auto street legal and another, also a former TT, but only the shell. This, the second car would be a project for a track car. Having two Soarer's in Europe is like having a Lamborghini Miura at the North Pole to cruise around and another one to carry seal fat to the fish market. I saw two Tesla on the city yesterday but only another Soarer in my life. And that was a car from British Drift AllStars that had a stage here in Romania.
So, it's pretty cool :-))

So I've got a UZZ32 running bad tyres and my 180sx semi-track-car with 1jz, everything worked etc.

The UZZ32 actually feels more nimble in some corners. 700kg extra weight and terrible retread tyres and it feels more nimble than a well setup track car. That's saying something (hopefully not about my ability to build cars :-)).

Get a UZZ32... there are only a few hundred left anywhere in the whole world :-O

Just had a look at the new RC-F
very nice.
Don't mind standing corrected.
Don't really consider this a production car though.
Cant imagine many people being able to afford one these. Im thinking will make a merc or beemer look cheap.
Should make a Soarer v8 worth more.
You can actually own a v8 Soarer while your dreaming about this one.
Or sell the house plus borrow a bit .then buy one

Not that a stock V8 Soarer (or even one with a catback exhaust) is much better, they're so sluggish down low that they actually feel like they have turbo lag, without the turbo rush. Not much really happens til 4,000rpm, and the only way I was able to wake mine up was to fit large Rush extractors, a full 2.25inch exhaust, and a Mafless tune on the e-manage ultimate with 3inch intake piping from throttle body to airbox. That bumped it up to 180rwkw.

they make a nice sound, but unless they're modified with an exhaust, ecu tweaks they're not much chop.

Agree with James on this one.

My V8 had header back exhaust, BFI with EMU that only made 145rwkw. I put in a 5 speed and definitely made a difference in driving. But it was heavy and it would get it's ass kicked by many hot hatches of today.

I agree again, that the sound of an inline 6 can't match the 8 but mine howls beautifully especially when in 1 and 2nd gear whilst it crackles and the occasional backfire pop when it slows down. It still turns heads that's for bloody sure!

At least with the Soarer V8, and the six, you will be able to walk when you get where you are going.
Wont happen with a late hot hatch.
My V8 has enough power for me, and excellent fuel economy. End of my story.
