Hi everyone. I sold my UZZ31 back in 2007 and now I'm looking at getting a JZZ30 VVTi as a weekend car...but just a couple of questions...

Was the scrolling instrument cluster a standard feature on the updated models or was it still optional? I looked at one today and was just surprised to find that the instrument cluster was rather dim despite the brightness being turned all the way up, along with the scroll function being missing from the cluster.

Is it possible that the cluster was replaced with an older non VVTi one?

Apart from that the car was otherwise pretty good and drove really well, much better than a 17 year old car should!

I've searched around but can't really find a proper answer so would be grateful if anyone can shed some light. Thanks.

Hey buddy,

yes the scrolling cluster was an option on the vvti models. The pov-pack models didn't get the scrolling dash.

The dash may have been replaced as on both of my 97 update Soarers, the dash was much brighter and easier to read than all earlier models I had before that (91, 93 & 94).

Thanks guys. Don't have much experience with the JZZ30 so never actually knew there were 2 different dash clusters!

And from what I've read, the dimness can generally be fixed by opening it up and giving it a good clean?

Yes opening it up cleaning the lenses makes a big difference.
