hey guys question for you, Ive lost my only soarer key bummer (was the car i was rebuilding and now cant event test the engine) anyway does anyone know if they key can be cut from a barrel? ( i am thinking of just taking off that barrel next to the drivers foot used to unlock the boot... or would I need to get a whole set of barrels with a new key?

I know for older cars that some people are able to cut keys if a barrel is provided.

I'm unsure if newer style keys can be done, its best to ring some lock smiths thats what I did and found a person who could do it for me, but I have a 2nd Generation Soarer which has different style keys.

Hi Oleg,

I think those locks are possibly a more basic lock than say the door or barrel lock ?? also the main thing is did the key you had work on that boot lock isolator as I have seen some cars that the ignition key didn't work on that lock, possibly barrels changed etc ...

Hi Oleg

we had a similar problem with a jzz31 some years ago and found the drivers side door lock has code/number that some locksmiths can use to cut a key. The key worked perfectly.

I have not tried it but maybe a Toyota dealer like castle hill Toyota can order you from japan one based on your chassis number...might be worth a call.

cheers

All is solved, thanks guys.

Ive read few rumors on the net that the code from the boot barrel is master key and the door barrel code is valet, all is wrong apparently (as the locksmith said) as door barrel number will make the master key, took him 2 mins and $39 later I have a new master key.

PS. what freaked me out, is how easy it is to get into the boot, all you need to do is short the switch coming out of the boot lock barrel next to drivers right leg.... I was not expecting that
