Do the cops even give Soarer's a second look these days? I haven't got pulled over for years except breath test once every 2 or 3 years. Wondering if a P plater could get away with driving a v8 or TT Soarer or would they get pulled up. It's a silly rule considering that it sits under power to weight ratio. What makes it even more ridiculous is that now newer cars with the same power as a soarer and with turbos are OK. But older cars with the same power are not OK. Don't think they have much clue. Just wondering does this actually get enforced and do cops even know what Soarers are?

I am sure they are aware of all the tricks, there are older cops out there to who know older and newer cars backwards.

Drove a V8 under green P's for a year, then drove it supercharged and with no cats, lowered, aftermarket lights and full HIDs for another 2 years.... Didn't get pulled over a single time (even with lots of soot on the rear bumper)... Its not about what your drive its about how you drive it...

I find commodores are bigger targets. Used to have stickers on the soarer, lowered, bodykit, etc, cops never bothered me. Had cops behind me a few times on the freeway and every time they ended up pulling over a commodore instead. I even get waved through most breath tests.

Would I risk it on my P's? No. I find they like targeting anything sporty with P plates!

A Celsior would go unnoticed though I think. Especially if you don't drive silly.

Ive never been pulled over in my Soarer. In WA cops mostly target Silvias, Skylines, Evos, WRXs

I got pulled over for a breath test years ago when I still had my V8. The senior officer thought I was a P plater so he told the young cop to 'make sure it's a V8 and not a turbo. V8s are ok cause they're only a small V8.'

I was on fulls anyways so it wouldn't have mattered, but yeah I think most of them would know what a Soarer is by now.

Funny enough a type R is p plate friendly but would be quickly then a Soarer in stock trim.

Yeah but how difficult is it to get more power out of a Type R? I will answer my own question - very, unless you go for FI. A TT Soarer on the other hand takes a few small modifications and suddenly it is A LOT faster than a stock Type R and many other cars on the road.

Agree Mark. It takes few modifications to a factory turbocharged car, and it makes them ALOT quicker. Diminishing returns on N/A cars, when you start talking about extractors, exhausts, and tunes. The cost per kw is quite high.. haha
