Ive noticed quite a few celsiors that would go past me had that horrible tapping noise. Also a stock soarer v8 went by a while ago and accelerated heavily - i could then hear that stupid tapping noise again.
My old soarer had a very quite tap but nothing compared to these i heard.. probably how its meant to sound? hmm

You know what I meant.
Sorry Dan, pet peve people using terms like lifters and rocker covers on OHC engines. (Kevin, they are CAM covers) - just call me anal
Wouldnt worry about it then unless its really bugging you - it's unlikely to be affecting performance at all and its a big job to fix it - and I'm guessing once you get moving you can't hear it any more? Did my Dolomite Sprint engine once - HUGE job as you not only have to remove the cam shaft (cant do it in place as the shims sit UNDER the buckets right on top of the valve stems - yay for the brits!), but the cam followers (single cam, 16 valve engine with followers operating the exhaust valves) - anyway, took me the whole weekend, two full 10 hour days to get it right, and 6 months later it was back to tapity tapity tap (again, yay for the brits)

Cursing the Jap's today - spent the morning trying to fix a Levin door handle - the control arm clip had broken off, then the window had been wound down on the control arm bending it. My hands are way too big to work comfortably in the space they give you behind the door skin...
