Hi everyone, just asking out there what insurance companies have soarer owners been using. I’m in qld and Shannon’s and AAMI seem to be the only insurers . Any advice?

Hi Mark ,i also have Shannon's for both cars and house for the last 9 years , big storm in perth damaged house , settled quickly and claim on new Pajero sport same , chose your own repairer is the best part
I changed to Third party only to ensure I got to keep my car after an accident when AAMI took over Just Cars. Even a minor accident can see them right the Soarer off and you can not be guaranteed the ability to buy the car back.

Been with Shannons for 20 years, all vehicles and bikes. Soarer premium $562 Annually, sum insured $25k, couldn't get them to go higher even with all the mods, but this is far higher than any competitor would go. Buy back option and choice of repairer also. Had hail damage on the IS250 last year, grabbed a few quotes, Shannons paid me cash, i had the repairs done, saved a few bucks, sent them pics of car repaired and they reinstated the sum insured as previous amount in full, no increase in premium, still with 65% no claim bonus intact. No questions and fast. All dealings very professional.

BTW, my premium on the Soarer is also very very good because of the "limited use" classification, and not daily driver spec. That has a massive influence on the premium. (apologies Mark, i think you were looking for a Daily Driver Comparison) Even our daily drivers don't cop many k's each year. Their sliding scale cost changes the more k's you do, so dailys are definitely more expensive. I don't ride as much as i used to either (unfortunately), so the Ducati is also very very reasonable.
Just out of interest, i called NRMA yesterday just to get a comparative idea (i have other business with them). Even though i have been an NRMA customer for many years in other realms, they could not come within $400 p.a. of the Shannons insurance i have on the stock IS250, considered one of our dailies, the other is the F-Sport (Shannons premium is a tad taller than before on the IS250 due to the hail damage repair last year, but im ok with that....It's back to absolutely perfect condition) NRMA wouldn't even consider the Soarer because of what it is.
For the IS250 quote, they also had the "would you like fries with that" mentality, like a few of the insurance companies, and had additional elements at around $100 to $150 a pop for... windscreen replacement, buy back option, choice of repairer, optional hire car (selected by them, and only 14 days....just too bad if their repairer takes longer than 14 days, or perhaps could not source parts quickly). They gave me the big pitch that they knew best with repairers etc etc.
There are just so many things to consider in "The package offering", and all these things I found out by in depth grilling of the operator, not necessarily offered up front.
Yes, we do get a good deal with Shannons for many reasons including my many years of patronage, low claim record (hail damage only)and driving record, but all things considered i would not change from them. My wide spectrum of vehicles is considered rationally by them and are all on the one policy that is very suitable and reasonable for us. I also like the lifetime guarantee on works performed.
Now...Greenslips are a whole different kettle of fish, and the coverage offered (hopefully no-one here will need it) varies remarkably in offering, and for a menial dollar difference. It is worth having a quick look at the online greenslip calculators and the different things the various companies offer in their greenslip coverage. The couple of bucks difference amortised over the years premium really isnt much in the big picture consideration. Its all fun and games till someone loses an eye.

Shannon's are great. Even if I had a normal car I would pay a bit extra to go with them. They payed when I had an issue and always good to deal with. I found justcar to be good as well but they no longer exist.

Just letting guys know if those who asked won’t be able to be insured by Shannon’s till next year. Due to bankruptcy won’t touch me. They did say if u get in an accident you have first option to buy the wreck. From all your advice definitely think Shannon’s will be suitable especially with agreed value. Guess I have to stay with aami for another 8 months

I'd pay extra to avoid Shannon's.
I used to swear by them but when it came time to make a claim after a decade, they turned out to be a f@cking nightmare! Then they wondered why I cancelled all polices with them.
This was several years ago but as the saying goes once burnt... Personally I will never use them again and go with better options for my vehicle collection.
Recently I have come across a few locals who also had similarly nightmare experiences with Shannons and their club cars, so it looks like they haven't improved over the years.

Sorry to hear that Ross, over the last 15 years i have made claims... 2 on new Pajero sport ,1 on ML350 CDI, 1 challenger, and one big one on house they were so accommodating with each one .

Here's a page from ours. Always total pros to deal with for us. Have also been a great source of info for other general car info as well. Most of these guys are enthusiasts themselves. 4 of these points were itemised out by NRMA at at least $100 a pop to be included (as extras in the basic Shannons policy). Feedback on SC looks pretty good
