Look for records of what has been done. If they can not prove the maintenance, assume you will need to do it. If they have done it, pay a discounted price and be happy with your fortune.

I paid $17,000 for my TT in sept last year. Boxes of mods on it and in very good nic (aside from all the things that have fsking broken since!). I would pay that price again if i had my time again as well because on the whole, i love my car!
Even though all our cars are aging and more and more cash is put aside to rebuild/fix things that break, the majority of us do have a fetish for the lovely things and do it because its worth the money to keep them looking so beautiful! =D

Pity 'cos EVO started out fairly well before they got greedy! My car came from there and they looked after me pretty well, things have changed since then Interesting that the contact given in the ad is Chris...he hasn't been there for quite some time (and that is the major reason for their decline).
Oh Yes I have my UZZ31 Nov/1996 Series III Soarer up for sale, in top condition and asking $33,000 for it. The prices have dropped and looks like I will end up keeping it! To drive a good Soarer and a bad one is so different! But people just look at mine and say they can have two early models for the price of mine. But then when I take them for a drive they see the difference! But still no one has come close to the money to let her go!!!
Mike Beck TryHard New Zeland no soarer... v8 has been sold..

I paid $5800 NZD for my old soarer, It was perfect, 1991, 121,000kms. I think that was due to the lower import tax than australia has or something?
Hmm anyway nothing wrong was with it. Most soarers in NZ go for 3k to 15k. The 15k ones dont actaully sell they are more like scenery on the auction sites! Usually you can get a great TT or V8 with 100,000kms-150,000 for under 7k. They all have good interior and most are stock!
However some people with tired ones average ones try sell there 220,000kms soarers for 7k-10k. They NEVER sell! Ones been there for over 1 year!
At the moment theres a nice v8 with 200kms done. Looks quite nice and tidy, it's limited with EMV unit etc. Auction Started at $1 reserve! Id expect it to go no higher than $4k, ~ maybe around $3.5k

When I bought mine last March I paid $28k, which I would've though to be rather high for a 'povpac'. I've since put about $3.5k into it(not really a 'povpac any more)and have enjoyed every bit of it. Boys with toys, right. Maybe they'll end up being a collectors item if kept in pristine condition for another 10 or so years? Stranger things have happened and they've certainly got what it takes. In any case, we still love our Soarers.

before purchasing my first soarer last year after comparing similar jags (for 12k) i found the soarer to be a much better option both in terms of performance, luxury but importantly reliability. After most of the major fixes are done i reckon they have a great life span. My latest soarer cost a mere 8,000 and i reckon a max of 6k more to get everything i want fixed perfectly; although it is completely drivable now and way better than say a 92 celica sx or some other 8k car. These cars are starting to look old, have no snob or prestige value but are a damn good car. i dont see myself upgrading for the next 15 years i would rather put money into the soarer than cop depreciation on some new piece of crap with half the features. I have driven late model volvo, MR2 (great but one gear change away from cetain death), merc, etc. Nothing under 70k compares to the soarer in my humble opinion.

I paid $47,000 for my LTD V8 with 108,000ks on it in 1999 !!!!!!!! - I still reckon it is worth every cent. Considering the only other car I was looking at (besides a 300ZX ($20k)) was an HSV Commodore (80k), I still have no doubt I made the right choice.

If someone wants some possible value, check out the 1996 VVT-i single turbo on offer at Northshore Prestige for $19k, marked down from $25k (as they do).

I agree that is a great car, Ollie, and at 23K it would be well worth the extra money When you said it was less I think you were looking at the FOB price ex-Japan rather than the on-road price here.

Yeah i have noticed alot of cheapies around of late, but as they say, you get what you pay for.
I paid $12500 for mine in nov '04, and even though it has VERY high k's ( >280k) i have only spent around $1750 since then which includes new alarm, 18" wheels and regular servicing (which i do myself). However i am going to have to have look at the bushes soon IMO i dont think i couldve asked for more for what i paid, i doubt there are many other cars out there that would stack up when all things are considered
Eastern states Soarers are very cheap. Us Westies gotta pay over 10K for a Soarer. Only ever saw one go for 9K, other than that the average Soarer still sells here for around 14K... There's lots that have asking price of around 17K still. It would actually make sense to fly over east and buy one there and drive it back home eh...
