Since upgrading to 2JZ + GT3540R, my fuel economy has been oustanding. I'm averaging around 12L/100 around town, which is much better than the 15-17L/100 I used to achieve on the 1JZ + various TT setups. I managed to get 800km out of my first tank after converting the car to 2JZ. Finished installing the engine at Lew's workshop, filled up, and drove home (nearly 12 hours). Stopped once for fuel after 812 or so kilometres. Couldn't believe it, the ECU was running a 1J map, completely untuned (fairly similar to how I'm running now actually). Couldn't be happier.
Hehe same here. They're great for cruising. On one of my country trips I drove for over 600 k's before I had to refuel. All on speed limit, and no major accelerating/overtaking stuff happening. Also had three passengers in the car and a full boot. I think it's coz it's not under boost so you just have a smaller engine (than the V8) driving the car so it is more economical perhaps for that reason, dunno.

we get best of both worlds, with performance AND economy!
I concur. My GT3076R turbo setup is getting around 12.5L/100ks around town. I'm running 19psi as well. Yet to put it on the highway, but I reckon it'll be awesome on fuel.

holy smokes....... $$$$$
now that amount of money i would rather use on fuel this days. The way petrol prices are going up dont think it would pay off unless you want to keep the car for at lease 5yrs.

Does any one know how many litres a GTT holds?
I was cruising on under 5L last night and went to fill up but she could only handle 63 Litres tops. So 4L + 63L = ~67ish? some say that there is always 5L spare, so its ~72L in a full tank? I thought they were about 78-80L tanks?
Its 78L, so that means your fuel gauge is out, most likely due to it having a dirty sender in fuel tank. There is some how to article on this site somewhere on fixing the problem.

78lt doesn't make sense. if i fill up with a full tank, the dash will say FULL, but it has only ever said 69lt after that. I don't see how a dirty fuel sender would be the reason for a 10lt discrepancy. my dash has never shown a figure between 69 and full.

They don't. The gauge reads Full until it drops below 70 Litres. Notice how far you can drive before it comes off Full.
Get a 4 litre jerry can of petrol and put it in the boot. Run the car empty. Put the 4 litres in, drive to servo and fill right up until you can see the petrol in the filler neck. You should be able to put in over 70 litres. Add the 4 you just put in and allow for a couple of litres to be sloshing at the bottom of the tank and you can get 78 Litres in.

Mine does the same and I think that is how it is. You fill her up and it shows 'full' for a while then the first reading is 69litre but when you come to refill whatever your reading is, say 15litre, add that to what the petrol pump says you've put in and you should get about 78litre. If those two numbers come to 78litre then you know that the cars' gauge is reading correctly. If it doesn't then you know you've got an error either + or - on your gauge because the petrol pump isn't likely to be wrong.
