Hi guys,
I am starting to polish my intake piping the alloy and its working out very well.
Just a quick and probably very stupid question.
The alloy pipes have little divits all over it, like its rough. I don't have to sand all these damn divits out do I? I don't even know if thats possible. I mean its looking really good. So the question, do I have to grind and sand the pipes down till its flat? As I said don't even know if its possible to do that.

Sanded all mine out. Used a wheel + sanding pad attachment for my drill, then used 200 thru 1200 wet + dry then finished with autosol. Still only done half the pipes though.

Yeah use a sand paper wheel to get it smooth first. Give it a clean. Then get some polishing compound a polishing wheel. There are two types of compound. Initial and final. For an awesome job get two polishing wheels and use one compound for each. This is how they get it to look like a mirror. I am half way through polishing my new throttle body

I have 3 full lots of piping and throttle bodies, I will be polishing them all. I will do a write up with some piccies when I am done, using the method I used. There are so many different ways, I am guessing.
Current tools I have used, $15 angle grinder, $30 mini finishing sander, $90 bench grinder, Rotary tool and fittings.
Using, flap wheels, lotsa sand paper for the finishing sander. I am using 3 compounds (with three seperate wheels). Harsh cutting compound, polishing compound and then the final mirror finish...
