Ah. thanks, I was pretty sure there was no way to change it but i thought i would ask anyway, I guess the only option would be to put in an american dash with regular dials

I hit my speed cut for the first time in December, after having my Soarer for a shade over 4 months. A nice long straight stretch of, uh, "private road" on the way to Moora. In hindsight it probably wasn't such a great thing to do on snow tyres that were only rated to 160.

Or go to your nearest parts importer and ask for a 2nd hand Apexi RSM series 1 or 2. Series 1 shouldnt cost more than $100 with loom. Series 2 would be about 200, easy to install and a few extra benifits as well

Peter, do you mean thats the point of the REV limiter? As far as I'm aware, the speed cut is just japanese regulation. It wouldn't be for preventing excessive revs as you can hit the limiter in any gear.
Put anything on the limit for a long time and it will break.

180KPH in most Soarers is what, about 4500rpm? A long way from being excessive. Still, running a car at high revs for extended periods does massively increase wear on the engine, so I guess it would make sense from the point of view of stopping someone from driving at say, 5500 RPM for an hour or two. But who's gonna drive at 220KPH for an hour or two, especially in Japan...

Ben does this thing off ebay really works? If seems too cheap to be true
I hit the limiter in my car after 3-4 days of owning it on a "private road" called Mitchell freeway. I found that my car pulls the same in every gear . Since then i visited the limiter almost every month. i love it (the speed, i hate the limiter). My old supra with a 1GEU engine (2L 6cyl) was on the limiter in 4th gear. Now i have a Soarer with double the engine and it goes 1km/h slower . Supra was cutting out at 179km/h, soarer cuts out at 178km/h. I'm not sure of this but i thing that Supra had a "2" on the dash. That car was fun
Nick, you can go up to 185 if you driving down some steep hill and you floor it then. I'm guessing I must have gone up to 189 or something when I did it around Cervantes up north, nice empty straight roads up there. Not a very pleasant experience hitting it though is it...

I know what you mean Dan. My Supra wasn't really "cutting out". It just wouldn't take more power after 179. I can really feel the Soarer cutting out. Feels like you put a manual in a lower gear on that speed and drop the clutch. First time it happened i thought something was wrong

Is the speed limiter set to 180? I find that I can set the cruise control up to 178 but cannot nudge it any higher so I assumed that 178 was the limit? Maybe I just wasn't trying hard enough

I was showing some mates how the limiter works and 1 minute later had the cops pull me over, when they asked how fast I was going I said about 90kph. He told me to stop talking sh!t and said they were doing 140 and I was pulling away from them...

So what happened with the cops? end up in cuffs? lose license and car? be a good job if you did, maybe then you'd have thought not to drive so fast when there was traffic around and you hadn't even noticed there was a cop behind you! especially with a carload of people. People like you are the very reason that charges like dangerous driving exist. And "pulling away from the cops at 140km/h"? - You have got a firm grip of your gristle.
