OK Ive been driving around for the past 2 days without my boot lining as ive been changing my boot struts. When i parked the car i noticed I had 15L of fuel left, this is something i check almost religiously. I put the lining back and started the car up 2 hours later and noticed the fuel gauge had a longer bar to it and it says 20L now. Whats going on ... anyone ?

When I read the title of your thread I thought OMG someone's invented perpetual motion.... let your fuel run down to 15 litres and WOW, (apart from the difficulty of fitting 210 litres into a 78 litre space) the world is saved, no energy crisis, exit stage right global warming and we can all sleep soundly... then I realised that you'd typo'd in the title... sorry, haven't the slightest idea except to suggest that you calibrate it ensuring that the car is on a level playing field....

I get that quite a bit; i dont have the digital read out, just the bar graph, but sometimes after parking for a while i end up with either lots more or lots less fuel on the gauge.
I know my gauge is inaccurate though so im just going to peg it down to old, dirty sensors =P

I had the very same problem the fuel gauge will keep going from low to high to even saying full... only started happening 2 days ago so I droped it back off to Luxury cars and they said if you use metho to clean the fuel cap and lines it should work, its because of the moistour in the lines which makes it give out a incorrect reading. I will get my car back later this week so I will let you know if that worked.

My car often reads a bar or so low when I start up in the morning - due to the 15-20 degree angle it gets parked on most nights. It usually pops up to what it should be at some stage during my journey to work. Of course, I have the pov pack, so only a 68 litre tank and probably quite different on the sender side.
