Federal's are actually run on a lot of strip cars. Quite popular actually. I have just bought a set of Triangles second hand. $12.50 each for 235/40/17's haha Cheap Malaysian made tyres, still give decent 60' times. They are only $70 new. Can get Kendo's new for roughly $40 hahaha

I put Champiras on mine. They dont tramline like my Kumhos did. Are new, so noise is low at the moment. 225X65X16s.

I've been running Federals in 17" sizes on my blown active for a while now. Love em! 245/45-17 front and 275/40-17 rear. No tracking issues, great wear, and bugger me if they don't hang on. I've had em singing up around the 260 mark and once I thought of kissing my arse goodby when I came hot into a corner at warp factor three and there was fine gravel sprayed everywhere like marbles. No issues at all. Good thing it was a 32, but even so, I LOVE these tyres. Just waiting for them to do a 275/35-18 and I'll be picking up another full set for the other toy.

I use Federals and found them fine, 2.01 60 foot time on a prepped track with a stock soarer. They basically use the tread patterns of other tyre companies and mass produce them from what I was told. And Australian company too I think? Which is good.

This from Google, though the web site doesn't say where they are manufactured. Looks like they removed it rom the site. "Federal Tyres are manufactured in Asia and imported into Australia."

The last Wheels magazine did a comparative test, and found that they were great in the dry, bad in the wet.

I have Roadstones. Works a treat, however doing burnouts seems to chew them up faster than my Sumitomos did. 1.90s 60' @ Kwinny.

I only ever run toyo tyres I've tried all sorts of tyres (i like skids what can i say?), but in all seriousness i wont go back to any other tyres because i feel that the toyo's gripped the best in wet and dry conditions. I've run them on both 17 inch x9 rims and 18x8 rims and i cant go back to any other tyre fully recommend the toyo's.

I had a set of Continental on one of my Triumphs once (they would have been something like 195/60 R14's) - from memory they cost me quite a bit, wear was OK, grip was good in dry, not so hot in the wet, pretty good for road noise - certainly would consider them again, especially at a bargain price. |
