This happens only when I'm driving and only when I have either my:

-sunroof tilted/open

or

-windows open

Im pretty sure it could be an exhaust leak or something, but then why is it coming through the sunroof?!?!

Is it when you are parked? Or when moving? I don't see how fumes could get in thorugh the windows when you're moving, unless you had an exhaust leak somewhere near the engine in front of you, and the fumes are passing around the car and over the roof.

It probably is from the bonnet. If engine didn't change the sound then i guess i'd check the gaskets on the extractors or any kind of joints on the exhaust

That's what I said:

and over the roof

How else would it go over the roof if not straight out the bonnet... Obviously not going through the firewall neither.

Yeah I reckon it could be some sort of an exhaust gasket somewhere...

The reason that the fumes only come in when the windows/sunroof are open is because this creates a vacuum in the cabin (when the cars moving), and if there happens to be an exhaust leak then the partial vacuum will suck the fumes into the cabin. This is why if you're getting fumes, you should wind up the windows and crank the heater fan on full, as this will pressurise the cabin (and therefore stop it from "sucking")

So what I'm trying to say is that the exhaust leak could be anywhere in the system, and the fumes are being drawn in from anywhere. Sometimes even a damaged boot seal is enough to allow the fumes to suck back into the cabin through the boot if the passengers had their windows down.

I went to exhaust place and they said no exhaust leak.

They did mention it could come through the boot (if its not sealed properly) and when the windows/sunroof are opened, it will draw the fumes from the boot in the car.

Now I realised in the boot theres some filters on the left and right hand side of the car (black color), with some plastic covers.

One of those ones filters is missing in my car, which means theres a opening in the boot, right where my RH muffler is.

Could it be because of that. And where could I source one of those filters from?

Cristian,
YES that could definitely be the problem, as they're meant to let air OUT of the car.

They're called: Rear quarter vent ducts.

I will give you the Toyota part number, but I reckon you'd get one a lot cheaper from one of the guys on the Forum.

Ahh okey. So thats what they do!

Well momentarily I have covered the whole with a piece of heat resistant foam(screwed and bolted in), although I went for a drive and I can still smell the exhaust fumes.

Thanks Don.

You're not missing any rubber grommets from the boot floor are you?.
I'm wondering as others have said, if the boot rubber seal is damaged, or not fitted correctly???

Also, how long has it been doing it, as in, has it always been like that since you've had the car, or is it only recent.............if recent, had you done, or had done anything to the car around the time you first noticed the fumes?.

Don: Only since I got my car back from the panel beaters!

Had a bingle on the rear and I'm pretty sure they had to refit the boot seals/boot/bumper.

I know I should take it back, but their service is terrible and I know I will be with no car for 2-3 weeks again. Thats why I'd rather first try and fix it myself.

Oh, ok. Sounds like something ain't fitting right
Might be worth taking it back to them (briefly) and let em have a quick look, in case it's something obvious (to them), but I wouldn't leave the car with em..........they sound slower than a wet Monday night in Budapest!.
