In my car that button actually picks up a radio station, probably a side-effect of the FM expander that is installed, so that it just happens to match up with a radio station here in Brisbane.
And actually you can set which radio station the button picks up by pressing and holding the button for 5 seconds (or there abouts) once you have tuned to the radio station that you want.
That way you can have a one-touch radio button (press again to resume CD or whatever). I just wish Australia had a dedicated traffic radio station like Japan does (or did, not sure if its still there)...
