Ok I've read the tutorial on cleaning the V8 engine - but what about the TT? Which engine parts do I need to keep dry? And which degreasers should I avoid?

coil packs, battery, basically anything to do with ignition or intake, so if you have a POD, try to cover it up.

Regular Super cheap degreaser works a treat and its cheap!

damn straight. Couple of cans of that go a long way.

Me and my old man buy them 10 at a time (or more) we use it for everything from cleaning wheels, to engine bays or the concrete or even cat piss. They hate the smell and keep away for a few weeks.

Keep water away from your electrics and intake. Dont hold the preasure washed too close to seals as it can cut into them or force water through them.

Personally I drive down to the local 24 hour wash joint, pop the bonnet and spray the crap out of the engine bay with the degreaser, usually I wont even cover up the electrics. Instead I start the car before I get the water blaster going. Keep the car running and after spraying it all off I go for a drive for about 10 mins (usually just home again is enough) by that time the water has had time to evaporate and you have a clean engine.

Good luck.
