Sorry to blab but it's a happy day today.
I was driving to the dump on Sunday (in a work ute) and saw what I thought was another Soarer.
Mine has been the only one here for 6 years but now there are 2!
I managed to catch up with the owner today on my way home from work and as luck would have it he lives 2 streets away!
He got his from Adelaide & it's a POV pack TT.
He also mentioned a guy was getting one in from WA bringing our total to 3!!!

Ok so it doesn't make a scratch on the meets etc that you guys have but at least we are starting to catch up

Alice Springs Aaron.
Most of the "performance" cars round here are lancers, there is a nice Skyline getting round, but the owner is a twat, so at least now there will be 3 'classy' performance cars

hehe, par for the course up here! Although the army guys always have nice rides. They are also great for bargains whenever they get shipped out. Kinda reminds me of the all the asian students an Monash Caulfield who sell off their cars for sooooo much less than market value. Still way too many hoons here. Theres nothing cool about an open wheel VN going sorta sideways....

Me and my soarer spent the last three years in Darwin before moving back down south. Would head back up in a heartbeat. Cheap and readily available motorsports venues and a laid back culture. Whats not to like. Then theres the Stuart Hwy...

Sean,

I'm an outdoors type. I thrived on the weather up there. The only time that really sucked was the buildup (november-ish for those shelterred southern types when it almost storms every day and is as humid as @#$%). I found the Stuart a great road compared the Pacific/New England/Bruxner/princess/etc.

You are right about becoming a state though. The last thing the territory needs is another level of government or a state setup like NSW. The cost of living down here is apalling. Rego/insurance/CTP/fines/rates are all huge costs with very little spent on actual public amenities like foot paths and affordable public entertainment.

Oh yeah, im trying to head home before the build up, dont think I could hack it again.....

Last time I hooned up and back, it was peak wet season, so Id kinda like to hoon away soon in the dry, and actually ENJOY the weather in Alice in the evenings. Wouldnt mind spending a bit more time this time round too. Whats the BEST hotel in Alice? I know there arent many flash ones around, but if theres anything more I love than hooning from Melb to Darwin, its pulling into the Stamford Plaza in Adelaide, valet-ing the car and going upstairs to a freshly prepared room, hit the mini bar for a Stella and then a soak in the spa. Out for the evening, even on my own (just to get the car valet-ed!). Then some drinks at the lovely bar in there, upstairs for the best sleep all year, followed by a wicked breakfast, then more hooning. I love good hotels, I could live in one no worries. Jan 2005, I mis timed everything and ended up staying overnight at the rat infested Marla Bore roadhouse......ewwww!!

Park Plaza in Melbourne is awesome so this time round I might try the Hyatt Regency Adelaide.

The best hotel I can recommend here is the Plaza Hotel.
Nice Place, but a bit yuppieish.
There is the Desert Palms, nice setting.
When you head down here Aaron give us a call and we'll go out on the cordial (with hops and bubbles!)
