Well guys, a friend of mine recently bought a 1995 Toyota Supra. Black, twins, rims, the whole shooting match. Sadly for him, and I know there will be many of you who say 'too bad' and 'he shoulda xxxxx' please hold.

Basically, after getting approval for a $30k loan from NAB (god they give out money) and only being 18yo, he found what he liked and paid for it.

On arrival, the tyres were BALD, i mean totally BALD. The left fibreglass skirt was rooted but otherwise the car was sound. It started and rumbled like crazy.

Sadly, after cruising around that same afternoon, the deathrattles came a knocking.

Yep, total fuxor. The engine was rooted. Upon further inspection, there was and I quote "No Oil" in the engine. The engine oil lamp never glowed.

I initially tried to get him to buy a white track weapon of a soarer that was for sale on these classifieds. Absolute beast and all teh expensive work done, going for under 20k at the time. If only......

Im helping him source a 2jz-gte from a mates wreckers, but at the same time, I cant help but feel devastated with him. Its clear the seller or the Transport company absolutely strapped the car to within an inch of its life, as teh before and after photos are two different things.

Guys, the old saying still rings true. Once you;ve had black you gonna need a wheelchair. I mean Buyer Beware!

Oh, and on further inspection, there was no oil in the sump, burnt gearbox oil, burnt diff oil, brakes rattling, front shocker flogged, oil leaks from rockers to sump, and burnt brake fluid. Also no spare wheel, tools, steering loose and front bar missing!

Please tell me he DID something about the theft and vehicle condition?

I know for a fact that transport companies don't keep an eye on their employees.
Sons of bitches deserve a 9 foot nail ridden poll in the proverbial, as does who ever carried out Operation " FU*K The Supra "

Where did he buy it from?

If it was an import and the car arrived in condition contrary to what the initial pictures showed then wouldnt there be something you can do with regards to fraudulant stuff and the ACCC or whatever?

I dunno...

Yeah I've read about it a while ago:

Even though I do feel sorry for your friend, I reckon he should have been a little bit smarter with the way he handled the whole thing... he's done everything he shouldn't have. Oh well, he'lllearn from his mistakes for sure, hope he gets through it alright.

Yeah, young and ignorant I guess. And I have to say, taking a $30,000 loan at 18 for a car is nuts.

But hell of a harsh way to learn.

Was your mate......blind, or deaf......or both? Surely, he would've checked out the car more than just jumping in and driving off with it. Maybe next time he will......

thanks rick rectum, im sure he'll be better for your advice. he's just young and naive. Good news is we've got a 2jz-gte on the way. Oh, and after much legal threats etc, we've established that Autotrans is responsible. Sad, because they took very good care of my car when i had it freighted from melbourne.

I hope that all is well.
Just read the whole thing on SF.com.au
Quite ashamed that most fellow supra members weren't very sympathetic to your friend.

so far they've agreed to $2800 for a fibreglass skirt that they smashed....strange, looks exactly like the damage you'd do if you were going sidewaysa and smashed it on a curb.

"$2800" i hear you say. Basically, because we cant buy just the left side we ahh,....er.... had to buy the whole damn genuine veilside kit! Dont y a just hate it when that happens?

WTF!! did your friend buy it from an overseas dealer or an importer?? NEVER!!! ALWAYS buy cars from local areas, purely for the fact that you can see what you get, then you can test drive it etc....otherwise, it is all too late when the car arrives for the first time in front of your eyes....as in your friends case!!

I was very skeptical about importing at first so I went to extra steps to make sure my car arrived as described which involved pictures of every square inch, inside, outside and under. Constant phone calls to the shipping company to see where everything was at etc. I did this cause my mate bought a 180sx through Prestige Motorsport (bad move) and it was described as having a light scrape on the rear quarter but when it got here it looked like it had been reversed into a wall. $2000 in repairs. BE CAREFUL.

I just sent my brother celisor up to darwin. It got there with rub marks down both sides, 5 extra deep scratches and a small hit on the front end. the best part is, that they tried to cover it all up with black marker!!
