Peter Scott used to have a page about air conditioning issues (can't find it now) and I am pretty sure he replaced the TX valve from under the bonnet. But it was a long time ago and I could be wrong.
Taking the dash out i snot that hard, of course I don;t know how much of te dash there is to be taken out, but I've taken out maybe 70% of my dash and had no issues, give it a go
Glovebox takes only 2 minutes to take off. It's one big piece. You'll have to undo the bottom aircond filter covers, and then undo four screws, two of which are under these black blanking plates inside the glovebox. After that you disconnect the two wires running to the glovebox and you're done. Takes 2 minutes tops.

I haven't seen or done a soarer one and I doubt a pic of my old one from my Supra would help (not even sure if I still have it around to take a picture of)
