Ok I'm going to WSID tomorrow night. Weather looks like it'll be clear night but temps might be around 25-28.

I picked up my soarer tonight with the new 3200rpm stallie. Bit weird to drive, smashes into gear now, so probably need to adjust kick down cable. Looks like I'll still need to stall it up on the line to get it going fast, as it doesn't flash to 3200rpm like I expected it would. Hope MV made this thing right. If I sit on the brake it seems to get to 3000rpm in reasonable time, but its a smoke fest on the street, so can't really test it out until the track.

I got one possible problem. The vpower racing pump was busted (so was vpower) at marsfield shell tonight and I was out of gas (6L left), so I had to fill up at lanecove space station with vpower 98 ron ••••• I hope I can get some 100 ron stuff tomorrow at cabramatta.

Just got back. Night started really crap. Had a problem with the stall converter. First two runs I would takes ages to stall to 3000rpm. When it finally got there I let go of the brake and it would just bog down. I left after two runs with these times on the board,

1. temp = 37c, 60' 2.424, ET 13.114, MPH 110.27
2. temp = 37c, 60' 2.205, ET 13.189, MPH 107.52

On the second run, daniel and jeff told me the announcer said, "is this guy ever going to launch it".

I left and went to my mates workshop and told him what went wrong. We checked the oil level, and all looked good. I did some practice stall ups and it was working. Stalled all the way to 4000rpm. I then played around with the power switch on the gearbox turning it on and what do you know, doesn't want to stall any more, back to economy, revs just keep going up and up and can hear boost coming on.

So I drove back, all 5 minutes worth to wsid and got back in. First run back I stalled it up big time to around 4000rpm and was wheel spin city off the line. There was also a massive change in temp. In 40 minutes temp changed from 37 to 23. One hell of a change in temp.

3. temp = 23c, 60' 2.363, ET 13.185, MPH 111.72

Came back around, and got lined up with a late model monaro. Stalled it to around 3300rpm and it rocketed off the line.

4. temp = 22, 60' 1.939, ET 12.460, MPH 109.92

And yeah I beat the monaro

5. temp = 21, 60' 1.898, ET 12.446, MPH 113.17

This was my best run. 3300rpm launch. No traction loss, no axle tramp. I actually had the line pressure for the auto pulled off the throttle for this run. See the diff in MPH. Previous run was with the cable attached. Looks like gearbox is slipping.

6. temp = 21, 60' 1.964, ET 12.545, MPH 113.13

This run has bad axle tramp. Water came out of the window spray, went over the windscreen when it tramped and all the •••• in the car flew all over the place. I just keep my foot into it. I was launching at about 3500rpm.

7. temp = 21, 60' 2.100, ET 12.649, MPH 113.14

Again lots of axle tramp. Again about 3500rpm.

8. temp = 20, 60' 2.045, ET 12.572, MPH 110.19

I stopped it here as it appears the gearbox is just slipping and I'm not getting a true MPH. Its a stock box with a 1.5 shift kit and 3200rpm stallie, thats it.

Not good man!
On arrival It was bloody Hot! then the southerly come through and the temp dropped to 20deg.It ended up being a good night.Benjamin managed a 12.4,Great stuff Benjamin

That is a great mph too, do you have a lockup on your torque converter that you are enabling half-track?

Falken azenis rt215. This is their second visit to WSID, so they were used, but still giving good grip. I don't have a boost gauge but it was tuned at 19psi, but that slightly changes with the weather. I suspect it was probably around this mark.

I've got no lockup switch, so I would be able to do a bit higher MPH, but the gearbox slipping is holding it back more. We noticed it slipping also when it was tuned on 19psi. It would slip more and more as it got hotter, so sitting on the stall converter on the line wasn't doing it any favours.

My last 6 runs were all done with OD on, letting auto shift itself and ecomony mode, so exactly like how it would be driven on the street. Surprisingly I was seeing 7000rpm on the tacho at the top of the track in 3rd, so the auto holds gears nicely with economy which surprised me.
