XSpeed or C-Red are prolly the only commercial garages around that i'd take a Soarer for performance stuffs.

Other people will have their own opinions on various mechanics; the guy who does all my work can arrange or do enough go fast stuff to my car to keep me happy <3

Or fit them yourself if you have the time :-) When I rang up Xspeed I was told it would be over a grand to remove the old ones and refit the new ones... get your dump upgraded at the same time, you'll save heaps of time/money in the long run...

1000bux or more? geez... i was expecting prices around the 600~800 tops just for removing n fitting...
i know you get what you pay for but what more do you get from removing and fitting... guess i have to go else where to get these done.

and i have my eyes set on lews dumps, i better start saving in the coming months...

Well, if you think about it, it's 90 bucks an hour, it will take roughly 10 hours for a professional to undo and refit (took me and Ben 10 hours to just get the old turbos off!), it's not as easy as just undoing a couple of bolts. They are also hard to get unbolted in the first place, as 15 years of heat cold heat cold heat cold etc. makes them baked like You'll probably use a whole can of WD-40 too while you're at it, and swear a lot, and cut your hands etc... but that's just someone like me, I guess a professional will be more... professional :-)

Plus not to mention new gaskets (180 bucks) and miscellaneous hoses, studs and clips that I had to replace (80 bucks) :-)

You may find that the large price figure is more for the fact they dont want to have to around with getting turbos on/off when they can play with electronics for the same amount! ;)

If you just want to swap on/off some turbos without having any work done to them then just find any ol' garage/mechanic who has done the same job a couple of times on a Soarer.

Dont go to the same place Samantha went though, she had a bucket load of problems in the end i hear! ;)

What place did Sam go to? What problems?

Callum, any mechanic will charge you something like 90 bucks an hour. And it will take 10 hours if not more. I'm not sure what Xspeed charges but... that is just an estimated price they've given me and have said themselves it's good day and a half of work. I honestly doubt you'll find someone that knows what they are doing that will be able to get the job done for 600 bucks. If you do, let me know!!

Best to ring them instead of going by forum quotes.

Gav at X-Speed can get the turbo's off a 1JZ and back on in about 4-6 hours now.

Labour there is around $88 an hour.

I'd be guessing around $550 for removing old turbos and fitting new turbos.

Best to ring them and find out.

Damn, two months ago I got a much different quote than that So now that mine are off, just to fit them it will take him 3 hours then? Might just as well tow my car there and get it installed properly hmmm...

Cant remember but she was shafted with a big rod!

$1000 is excessive for turbos on/off as others have said. I wouldnt have a clue how long it normally takes.
The reason i suggest someone who has done it before is that way they know what bolts need to come off etc. I think i remember someone telling me once that you can take something directly off the manifold and skip taking off like 6 bolts or something... i forget.

No doubt many people will groan at this, but the guy who has done 99% of work to my car since i hahve had it (and its been QUITE ALOT!) is Joe Batarseh of Automotive Mobile Masters. (0408 935 700)
Joe has been a genuine saint to me as a mechanic. Prices are always reasonable and he is always happy to get the job done in great time.

I know other Soarer owners who use him and recommend him as well, and many other people with Skylines and other imports who have similar praise.

Joe is primarily mobile and will come to you to do work. In the instance he needs to use a garage, he uses one in Joondalup, literally 30secs from the end of the FWY.

Say hi from me if you give him a call! ;D

Joe= Best Soarer Mechanic in Perth!! He is no longer working mobile, now operating out of Joondalup. Personally I would drive to Geraldton if it ment knowing my car was being well looked after!
Also I have had extremely bad dealings with Xtreme Machines Willeton, would never go there again!!

The guru of the East Coast giving kudos to a guru in the West Coast is a pretty good reason to drive to Geraldton.

And to add another post to this thread for today....

I cant say anything specifically about the steel wheele'd ct12a's on eBay from China, however there is a general rule of thumb with things from China and other mass production nations...
Just 'cos they they do a f**ktonne of crappy stuff, it doesnt mean 99% of the stuff that comes out is crappy.
There is a LOT of stuff that comes out from China that is of a top shelf quality, it all comes down to the product which is being created.

I think Mark Paddick mentioned recently in an ICE thread the same thing.

But like i said, i cant say anything specifically about the specific product in discussion =P
