This is the first time in twenty years that the government has contributed anything at all beyond the policing cost. Summernats has not previously depended on government support and is not supposed to in the future but even in the drearily anti-car ACT it is likely that more support would be forthcoming if needed. The event is very profitable to local commerce; not least in Fyshwick.

I have heard that summernats is no more and will be moved to eastern creek raceway and will be called suppernats.I'm not sure if this is true but it sounds good!
