I have just finished putting on my new front bumper and new custom plates only to get done by the pigs for loose battery, loose shift knob and too low (even thought it wasn't) 200metres from where i put them on. not only that but i also got a speeding fine later that night for making a the cop angry by telling him "i already got a yellow sticker tonight". the fine was for 6ks over the limit... anyways before i strip the car down to go over the pitts i shall post some pictures of what it does look like now at its best.

No, you will not get it over the pits without side indicators.
And you should be a bit more polite to Mr. Plod Devan from my personal experience if you are polite with an officer and show them the respect they deserve then you might just get let off with a warning.

Yellow stickers have nothing to do with the car itself, they usually come down to driver attitude or cop attitude.
I'm yet to meet a cop who's an asshole just for the sake of being one, however I'm sure they are out there.
I'm not saying it was your fault, but don't forget respect is a 2-way street. I firmly believe this is why my Soarer has never gotten a yellow, even though I attended cruises in it every week.

Im all for trying to take the car over the pits as it is.
My previous car was modified almost to the extreme and i took it over the pits three times (the third time i failed.. and thats why i drive a soarer) but i never had a cat converter and efi and alot of the emmissions had been ripped out - plus the thing sounded like a tractor and twice i was fine.
Now im not saying that its the way to go - but try your car first. Its worth a poke anyway. If you fail - meh - you havent lost much. Fix the car up and put her over.

Devan,
That's not good news mate however I've been through the pits a couple of time before with that car.
You will have to: 1. Swap the rims with the standard Factory rims. Call Regan at www.dcimports.com.au and see if he has a set to sell you. I strongly suggest buying a set so it makes it easier in future if it should happen again. I'm pretty sure Regan has a few sets available for sale now... http://www.importlister.com/probid/auctiondetails.php?id=10443 $150 for the rims plus you'll need to buy some tyres however pretty cheap for 15" Rims.
2. Call Joe 0408 935 700 and organise a time to take the car to him to wind-up the suspension (or any suspension place) to factory legal height. The car is TOO LOW at its current setting and will NOT pass. At the right height they have let the HKS suspension pass however that doesn't mean they will this time. When I attempted to get my V8 across they failed the Teins even at correct height. I was installing back to factory airbags anyway so it didn't bother me. Best thing is don't get smart with the guys in the pits or you will walk out with a very long list (ie: Attempting to tell them stuff was passed before is a bad strategy). Take any defects on the chin and get them sorted.
3. You are going to have to put the indicators back on - no way around that.
4. The custom pipework/pod has been passed previously and therefore they shouldn't give you any grief.
5. My V8 failed with a missing centre middle (Hi-stop rear)light. Yours doesn't have one either but I never got pinged for it for the two times I went over the pits in that car. You may be lucky but be prepared for the fact that they want it. Either get one installed up front or take a punt.
6. The exhuast should pass as is. It's aftermarket but relatively quiet and has passed before no problems.
7. Shifter loose? WTF - You must have really p*ssed them off!
That's it really. Once they pass the car I also strongly suggest you ask for and pay for permits for the modifications that you don't have to remove. ie: Once accepted ask them to write out permits for the engine piping/intercooler and pod intake and the exhaust. Just makes it easier in future to either show these to the police if they pick on those items and/or show to the pits to make for a faster inspection.
It's annoying however it comes with having a car like this. As suggested here your best policy is to be nice - most police officers are reasonable unless "provoked"....

oh just remembered you should also contact Maltech.com.au and get a copy of their ADR certification for the braided brake lines. You may have to show this when going through.
Again once they accept it get a permit for them so you don't have to worry in future (if pulled by the Police) or just have the paperwork from Maltech to show over the pits.

Mel - get over yourself. As you know I bought a modified V8 from Sydney which I didn't need to specifically ask the owner about in relation to what is legal and what isn't. It's a no brainer. If Devan was concerned about such things he would have asked - he does have a brain you know.
If you want to stir sh*t for the sake of it go elsewhere. I'm spending time here to help Devan out so rather than take the thread off-topic if you don't have anything useful to contribute then don't contribute at all.

honestly, really dont want to argue, just as atrader, would have thought you would have to mention this, thats all, not picking on you as such, am in a learning proses here, dont have pis in UK, we have MOTs, yearly, to check out if a car, all cars are roadworthy and legal to drive on the roads, as a trader in the uk, all cars must be legal to drive on the roads, example, if you sell something thats modified, all mods must be told to buyer, now, maybe you have told Devan all this, i dont know, have i seen the car? yes, 2 weeks after he bought it, he had it round to garage to let me see it, i was the one who had to get apaint code for the car, but as you rightly said, thats off topic subject,

Mel, I'm not a car dealer. This was a private sale. I can see why you were raising those concerns if I was a car dealer but I'm not. I sell parts and accessories only through Import Scene not cars.
You are correct in that a Dealer is required to sell a car that is compliant.
Looks like a case of misunderstanding - so I apologise for sounding harsh. All I want to do is help the guy seems I know the car and i know what needs to be done to get it over the pits.

I've been told many myths about "legal" ride height all from your car must be able to drive over a coke can without tipping it to certain measurements from certain points of the car but was told by the inspecting officer himself when I took my car over the pits the maximum allowed is 40mm from stock height.
well guys i didnt say one word to the police when they did me. it was the very first time i have been done ever in any car, those who know me know im very well tempered and i am a very genuine nice guy, thats why im so pissed these cops are just trying to do me because of my plates and bumper.
ive been pulled over a further 4 times since that night regarding the car and not my speed.
my meeting with the pits will be at 3-45 friday afternoon and im not looking forward to it one bit.
