Peter Brock made a career of driving, he loved it, and was damn good at doing it as well, a legend in his own right, and as a result holds the title of "The King of the Mountain".
Lets all cruise to Mt Panorama and remember a legend, a man who devoted his time to fans, to his racing, and most importantly, to the community.
The Plan
Meeting point will be at M4 west-bound McDonalds, there will will be plenty of parking, and an over-flow area for people that dont fit. There will also be fuel and food available before we leave, and ammenities for everyone to refresh and be ready for the nice long drive ahead.
We will begin gathering at 8:30am on 8th September, for a departure of around 9:00am (if people are still arriving, then we will push departure to 9:30am).
At this point, we would ask that if you can afford it, a gold coin donation be made which will 100% go to the Peter Brock Foundation (www.peterbrockfoundation.com.au), as a donation for the good work he has past onto the community.
To get to Bathurst from here is very straight forward, but your cruise guides will contain simple but detailed instructions on how to get there, but in a very basic form,we will head straight up towards the blue mountains, follow the signs to Lithgow and pull in at Mc Donalds.
We will perform a re-grouping at the Lithgow Mc Donalds, as we are expecting to have numerous P-plater and possibly L-platers on this cruise as we did last year, and we dont want them to feel left behind, or that they have to rush to keep up, as we want to promote safe driving.
Once we have re-grouped, fed up and anything else required at this driver reviver, it's onward to Bathurst. (I have already spoken to Bathurst Regional Council and the relevant authorities and they will be expecting us (in a good way).
When we arrive in Bathurst we will head to the National Motor Museum located at the foot of Mt Panorama. Once we all regroup here, we can rest, grab refreshments from the museum, or cut a few hot laps.
Once we all have re-grouped, the cruise organisers will head up the mountain and set up a BBQ area at the top, and fire up the BBQ ready to burn some meat, and get set up for lunch.
Drinks and food will be available, including chicken and vegitarian suasages for people that would prefer this, and there will also be salads available as well.
With regards to drinks, we will have coke, lemonade and other refreshments on ice, and both Sausages and drinks will be purchasable for $1.50, and once food and drink is paid off, the profits again will be pushed to the Peter Brock Foundation directly.
After lunch/afternoon dinner, we will be able to cruise around the track, and the organisers will have people located around the track with camera's set up for photo moments at all sorts of locations, and it would be very nice to get a group shot of all the cars and cruisers before we depart in the afternoon.
Currently, there is no homeward plan in place, but a suggestion from the organisers is that people might want to think about staying the night in Bathurst, partying it up with a pub crawl and hitting the town, and heading back on the Sunday refreshed and well rested (safety is our number 1 concern).
I will have a small number of rooms booked at a Motel I know, and will be getting good rates for this, but this will be limited.
Hope to see many of you on the cruise, see some old faces on the cruise and also meet new people.
Also, feel free to contact myself on 0410 548 221 if you have any questions regarding this cruise.
Many Thanks,
Brian.

Last year's tribute cruise was a great success, everyone had a good time, only hard part is getting people to obide by the 60km/h Mt Panorama Circuit speed limit, but I am sure the speed camera on Conrod Straight will help.

Nope, it's not a double demerit weekend, that is not a declared public holiday, it's more comparable to a bank holiday, it's officially only a localised holiday, and up to businesses at this stage because they are no longer shutting the entire city down as first thought.

Update: Peter Brock Foundation will be there as well, seems our cruise weekend also co-incides with the opening of the Peter Brock wing of the National Motor Museum, so it's going to be a HUGE weekend.

This cruise is dedicated to remembering someone who is a hero int he eyes of so many people, and we are remembering him for the good things he did, for the foundation he foundered and supported (which now supports the community under his name).
How about we leave the not so good things out of this hey?
Also, there is a chance Bev and family might be there as well, so let's see how things go

Guys, due to a discovery today on my soarer I cannot make the cruise tomorrow, and i was so looking forward to it. I discovered that the rear of the car vibrates at over 100km/hr. I have to get it looked at. Dang.
