Hmmm Loving your Soarer in the pictures with it's shinny Metallic blue and those top notch wheels! Reminds me of a SL55 a touch! I'm still not sure what Ill get for large wheels soon... Thinking of 18" BBS's with the split multi spoke look. If I can find a good set that is that fits Soarers hubs! |

Mine are 17" ROH "Azzurro" rims. And you gotta love those BBS mesh rims... when I bought my car I was so glad it had nice rims on it, saved me a lot of dollars on throwing out some stupid 20" chrome bling wheels you see on every second car.
I love my Soarer... hats off to it's previous owner for being a meticulous fussy bugger!

Oh yeah, and the fact they're not dish rims makes them look bigger with all those spokes. 17 of them I think... can't remember. I did count them once! |

After a week, i went back to the exhaust shop and ask them to put resonators on, as it is too loud for me! |

Ooooh yeah, that's where it's at. Mine will probably sound a lot different... I've got a secret in mind. More on that at a later date... but I'm aiming for classic 60's and 70's American muscle car tone and throat, with modern fuel injected depth.
All I'll say now is that it will incorporate Neil's extractors, 2.5" with x-pipe and hi-flow cats... mufflers are a secret! |

Ahh sounds exciting Glen - I wonder what you could have lined up.. Hmm..
I think choosing the right mufflers (and the rest of the exhaust) is one of the best modifications you can do on a V8 soarer...
My mufflers are quite special to my mind - no a secret though! I got a pair of big straight through mufflers from a V8 Audi RS6! and a pair of the 10" Resonators they have all made in Germany from Stainless.... Should sound tops with the Neil's Extractors....
Fortunately in NZ we dont need cats so mine will just go 2.25" From the extractors, to the resonators and to the mufflers....
I'm going to hold off on an H-pipe or X-pipe for now as I quite like the rumble the exhaust offers with out them. Would love to get it all done tomorrow but I'm having to fork out a fair bit for a full 100k service and new bushes at the moment - however it needs it and the results should have me smiling from ear to ear! Would hope then to get the exhaust system on by late August/ early September....

You have probably seen this Glen but this is my old UZZ30 which had a cat back 2.25" system, no joiner pipes and a pair of lukey Ultra Flo mufflers. Was quite a nice sound - did need resonators I think - Headers would have made it much nicer though - still it was not bad for an $800 NZD system. |

A much missed car that one... was a lot minter than my limited is currently. But then again, It's been great to try out a Celsior and a 3.0GT in between...
I've come to the conclusion now, a Limited is easily the best of the bunch - so Ill stick with it and get this one into shape (AND NOT SELL IT) |

Honestly, If I did sell it, I think to myself what would I buy? There is nothing on the market in which you get so much car for your dollar... So I wouldn't bother attempting to selling it - Id be back to square one otherwise!
...I shall cement my boots in this for 2 years at least!
See, the aim here is to get this Soarer up to a safe well performing & reliable spec in order to take on Pukekohe and Hampton Downs when its open next year....
Have a bit of fun and learn a few things... ya know...

Indeed, as usual Don.
Exciting..... today I've been swapping it's air shocks over to factory Coils. Nothing wrong with the struts just a personal preference!
.... I also took the time to clean up the suspension wishbones and so on. The top ones are shinny aluminum when cleaned! Look like a work of art! |

Announcement: I've purchased my mufflers! I'm just going to get the exhaust joint to chop off the mids and rears, and weld in some pipe between there and the new mufflers. Some nice slash oval tips and I'm set for something that sounds alright for the time being.
I'll worry about a full system some time down the track... when I can afford extractors and the whole kit.
Now I just wait for the mufflers to arrive! |
