Just came down orrong road, bulk cops blocking the road off, so went and had a bit of a closer look.

Front bumper sitting at the lights, then about 100-200 metres down a car sitting on its roof, parts scattered all over the road, yellow caution tape...

Nah, I think the JZZ-31 is p plate perfect in terms of reliability, economy, affordability etc. For your budget assuming it is not more than like 13k you will get a TT with problems or a immaculate JZZ31.

As a younger person like yourself I also think TT are too fast for someone with limited experience driving while a JZZ31 is perfect for learning with and then once you've got a few years experience get yourself a immac vvti turbo.

Turbo or nothing at all

Depending on how much cash i have at the time, will depend on what i get.

Looking at FC rx7's at the moment, don't think ill be getting a manual TT soarer...might be just a "tad" out of my price range haha.

I wouldn't say TT's would have problems for 13k, theres alot of nice examples for around the 10 area. brother brought his for less and has only recently started having problems.

josh "As a younger person like yourself I also think TT are too fast for someone with limited experience driving while a JZZ31 is perfect for learning with and then once you've got a few years experience get yourself a immac vvti turbo."

No offence dude but i think that's completely wrong. just because he's young doesn't mean he doesn't have experience. he could be like me and have been in cars all his life due to living on a farm or because his family did a lot of camping or something like that. i've been driving since i was bout 8 and i've only just got off my p plates, and i've been riding a 600cc motorbike (that went 128km/h in first gear) that would absolutely blow most of the soarers people own on here out this world so you can't really make a statement like that just because he's young.

did you get your license when it was one year on p's and the l system was so easy to get through it wasn't funny? if you did you could have jumped into a car with a hell of a lot less experience. not saying you did, just saying you could have. at least now they're making kids actually sit in a car and drive themselves so that they can learn how to control the bloody things.

another thing is you can get in nearly any car and speed and be stupid. my best mates first car was an 88 corolla. absolute beast! right? HELL NO! but he got that thing up to over 180 km/h. so it doesn't matter what car you learn in because you can irresponsible in pretty much any. its up to the individual to make their own choices and be responsible and do the right thing if they buy a high powered car

Exactly right. Those kids that died from Corpus Christi I think it was..? Well they were in a beamer...320i..not turbo or v8, just inline 4 cyliders, 125kw.
They crashed not because the car was too powerful, but because they were driving irresponsibly. True, they may not have crashed if they were more experienced, but that risk always comes with reckless driving..

Ultimately it comes down to how you choose to drive the car.

I think what josh is trying to say is, the statistics show that p plate drivers or young drivers in GENERAL have a much much higher death rate behind the wheel, especially when driving high powered vehicles.

This is why some insurance companies will not insure drivers below 21 years of age, and also why the government is trying to ban young drivers purchasing high powered cars.

I dont think it was personal, he was just making a general comment.

We can all enjoy these cars, just be responsible and choose the right places e.g The track

My first car when I was 17 was a HX Limited Monaro - that was massiiiive n got me laiiiid - but the only car I've crashed was a little 1.6 KE Laser, why you ask? Because I was driving like a tool and had a little of this;

if the governments driver learning scheme wasn't such a joke and it actually taught kids how to drive like over east, there wouldn't be a problem with insurance and with younger drivers in high powered cars.

i know it wasn't personal but people have told me the same thing since i got my license but i've been driving for years longer than a lot of people who are 22-26ish. and the reason i can't drive now is because of an 'older', supposably more experienced driver, in a busted arse old car (not a turbo or v8), tried to make me and my bike an attraction in the pavement coz he couldn't be bothered indicating or looking in his blind spot

I doubt that most of it would be due to high powered cars. I look at the news, and usually the only "hoons" that crash and die are in bog stock commodores / falcons, hardly a high powered performance car.

Along with that, if you're an enthusiast you usually go to track days/motorkhanas and the like, which would mean you're a better drive than most people on the road who just use cars as a means of "A to B"

And people under 21 will most likely be more likely to drink and drive, still partying years and all that.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying P platers in performance cars are less likely to drive like idiots, but you can't tell me alot of them wouldn't be better drivers than your average guy.

In the end, its not the car that causes deaths and crashes, its the person.

You could have the best driving talent in the world, yet if you dont have the common sense for time/place, you'll end up another statistic.

Take my rantings with a grain of salt, i'm 17 and don't have a license, i'm just saying what i believe.

Hey Caleb the stereotypical assumption here is that 'most' people that are younger have less experience than older people who have been driving longer. As evidence look to the death statistics on the road and you will witness that the 17 - 25 age group is over represented in fatalities.

Yes you may have had more experience than others your age but your are more of an anomaly really because there may be a few like yourself that have driven since 8 but most of us have not.

Yeah guys dont take it personal at all, I am just trying to say what Shadi said above.

I still think that jzz31 are perfect though because when I had mine I still had enough $ to work pay it off and save up for a sweet turbo vvti. As David and Chris point out turbos are costly man. If I bought a TT straight away I wouldnt have very much extra cash to save as it would have been spent on insurance, maintenance and probably mods.

At the end of the day drive the car you want and be careful with it. As long as you dudes get a soarer and come to cruises all is well

g'day josh. i know what your saying but do they say whether the people from the stats are statistics because they were in high performance cars or because they were drunk or doing burnouts or something else (fun but) bloody stupid? and i'm sorry if it seemed as if i was having a go but i just think that people need to realise that turbo or non turbo it doesn't matter, you still need to drive responsibly and to your limits.

i got my soarer pretty bloody cheap luckily, lol, so i've been able to save the extra money which is going towards my sequential turbo setup and mods. and like you said they can be expensive, so unless you can get a good deal and still have enough for mods and everything you want, and so you can also save, a N/A may be the way to go.

i just get antsy because everyone has always had a go at me for my decisions with vehicles and i find it a bit irritating unless they know your situation. sorry again mate but that's the way i see it because of the price and everything that's happened with my soarer.

oh and by the way, i think getting squished wasn't all bad in the sense that i got my soarer because of it and i love the car. they are an absolutely beautiful piece of work and i recommend anyone thinking about getting a car to get one over a big v8 like heaps of youngens want because all they do most of the time is make noise, chew fuel, and cost you two arms and a leg, plus the loan to buy one lol. just my two cents
