Hey guys i was speaking to Butler the other day about doing something more social as a club. Reading all the bullshit thats going on with fix it days and people dropping out etc i dont know how well this would work but here goes it. Who would be interested in going for say paintball or a pubcrawl? Im going with a group of mates down to Delawaree for some paintball soon and thought if people are interested it would be a good day spend having some fun aswell as an enjoyable 1hr+ drive as a club in the future otherwise a sociable drinking session never hurt anyone but your liver may object haha. I mean its all great and all to talk about Soarers and fix them at designated days but i feel a few people dont tag along as they either have nothing to fix or just cant be bothered taking the time out of their busy schedules to look at others fixing their cars. So who would be interested in some fun and getting to know members? Also when i get the time im gonna make up some club cards to get more members to join. I see a heap of nice Soarers but generally speaking they dont come out to cruises (always small numbers) or fix it days. Either this people arent enthusiasts or dont know about the site, either way they will know once i get this cards made up and pop them under their windscreen wiper blade sneaky i know. But yeah i think it will be good to get some more people onboard and get a good up close and personal viewing of some nice cars that drive around and also bump up numbers for cruise attendance. Anyway opinions, comment, or abuse lets hear it all Cheers -Dave-

Again David Sounds good. But people need to be bothered actually turning up to things. I don't got to fix it days much any more because I hate getting stuck fixing other people's cars. We spoke about this before and I suggested that I made a website "www.sasoarerclub.com" or something like http://www.wasoarerclub.com/ so we can post dates, pic etc. Rather than people flooding here with random useless "when is it or where is is" posts. I'd be happy to maintain & run it if people wanted me to do something. More of a social club sounds great, and the cards are a good idea as well.

Now we are talking! A good idea would be a dinner at a pub somewhere and then those who want to can kick on later! I think key is to set a date and a plan early and stick to it no matter what! If its organised early, people know where they stand! So I am suggesting the 14th of March (Saturday) we do something!

Well I can get the site up and running over the weekend if you want. Open to any suggestions. I think a mailing list would be a good sea so people that don't visit soarercentral or alsc can still get invited. Dinner sounds good with a slow night drive through the hills for those that want to. I also say we ban any noon dickheads right from the start. You want to race? Wait till we organize a track day. So that's a yes on website?

Ash, you hit it on the head there mate! There is too many last minute pull outs. Whilst I understand that there are things that come up from time to time, I organised a pool night about 18 months ago that 11 people said that they would come to. 2 pulled out before the date, ok I thought, still leaves 9 others + me. 3 pulled out that morning and the others started sending me text msgs around 8 saying that they wouldn't be coming (after we had agreed on a 7.30 kick off) leaving me twidling my thumbs all by myself! lol Hence why I am starting to get sick of the whole... 'lets do something this day' 'oh wait, i have to work' 'ive got a wedding' 'ok, seeing you 2 cant come, lets f#ck off everybody else who can and change it to another day' And what happens now? The people that could make it before can't make it to the new date, then the whole cycle repeats itself over and over. Ergo we only meet up twice a year! It starts to get scray when I get Ash drop parts off to my dad's house while Dean is there getting me to fix his dash. Both Tamatha and Gary randomly drives past and sees 3 soarers on the side of the road and stops to see what is going on. We now have the second biggest club meet of the year with no organisation what so ever yet we still struggle to lock in a cruise/fix it day/dinner/pool night/piss-up with 5 weeks notice? WTF is going on?

Oh, and also I am getting a tad pissed at the fact that a majority of people here feel that they are so high and mighty that everytime I ask if anyone is keen to tag along to a supra or rx7 meet (even if it is just a dinner somehwere) that I quite often get met with responses akin to that they are beneath us! Wether it is tounge in cheek or not, we are starting to get a VERY bad name amongst other clubs as it appears that we are to snobby to socialise with anyone.

I was gonna say soareringsa.com as a suggestion and then saw it as option 3. Sounds good and more relaxed/casual rather than a full on club that we just doing things on our cars. Ben i see what your getting at, that's the very reason why i have many different large group of friends as when one person cant make it then others start jumping ship. Partly i think the problem is numbers and thats were hopefully giving out cards will bump up numbers. That way even if a number of people drop out for an event/fix it day/cruise then there are decent numbers still left to go ahead with the event. I mean if you have 6 people for a cruise and 2 drop out days before and other 2 drop out on the day then its hardly a club event. Hopefully we get more people on board that havent heard about our little community and if we get 30 people committing to an event and 10 people drop out we still have great numbers to make it enjoyable. As for Supra and RX7 cruises im down for sure if i can make it, i guess there are a few clubs that specifically only allow their kind unless ex-owners or good friend have different cars then they can tag along. Ive been to a few other club cruises and i get the feeling that if your a random in a car that is not part of the club then you sort of get the cold shoulder and unofficially not welcome. This is the very reason i like nissiansilvia.com and post up their events on here as its always a large variety of cars and they have a very large SA base. I got an idea for a cruise that mixes in a few other cars with our Soarers however ill need time to iron it all out (strapped for time right now) as it would be a rather large turnout.

Feel free to drag it out as much as possible! I've been going nuts down the workshop to finish off my car (if you'd believe it the engine is back in!!!) so hopefully sometime soon I might actually be able to bring a soarer to a soarer meet! lol

well if we don't have anymore votes then I guess Soaring SA will get it. I like it the best too, but if Anthony or Ben have a different one feel free to pipe up. Poll is open until about midday tomorrow (that's when I get up on Saturdays) Now your making me feel guilty Ben. I know I haven't been around much the last few meets, no job meant no money meant no petrol to waste. well now I'm a bigwig again it's time to get somethings organized. I don't really want to be part of a "select few" kind of club. I would really like it to be big, fun and social. Now we are going to need volunteers for cruise organization etc but I think if a couple of us get together it should be easy and START organising a few things I think the rest should follow pretty easy. To be honest I'm sick of fix-it days for the time being. Ben and I ALWAYS get stuck fixing other peoples cars and sometimes I think we'd rather just show up and chat to people and do some deals (CARBON Fibre!!!) Oh yeah, that day at you dad's place was awesome. Asif that many people turned up and Gary FINALLY took me for a ride in his car... Well I guess I'll have to return the favor now. Well I'll post up when I'm done with the site. Might just be a place holder until I get the back end stuff running up for easy posting.

Totally agree with EVERYTHING above. The random day at Ben's was great. You got to catch up with people and have a chat. Know I haven't been too sociable lately, but that hasn't just been with you guys, I've been a snob to everyone (for which I truly feel bad). To keep the costs down so more people show up, how about a sunday brunch somewhere? Weather is nice so BBQ at a park (like Ben's organised before) was a great idea. BYO and the BBQ is there. This way you don't have to worry about booking tables, or organising numbers. Time frame could be more open as peeps would come a go throughout the day. Just bring your own chairs, footy's etc etc Like I said, big apologies to all that I haven't caught up with lately, and I hope to catch up soon. Now I go yell at the puppy scratching the back door...I NEED SLEEP, he stays up ALL NIGHT...

First things first, yeah I'm definitely keen to do more soarer club stuff. I thought I'd just put down a few ideas while things are up in the air. I have been a part of a fair few clubs and cruises but feel free to agree or disagree to whatever you want. 1) We need the ability to actively invite people to events rather than people just passively checking soarer central. Soarercentral is a great resource when it comes to fixing problems but its horrible as a event organiser because you don't know when things go up and what details are decided upon. Whether the solution is a whole website or just a stronger facebook group following or something I don't think it matters. 2) The events don't need to be organised a million years in advance but they do need to have definite times and locations. Nobody is going to commit to anything that is up in the air. Additionally, events have to also have a purpose, going for a drive through the hills is great but you cant have people being indecisive about who wants to lead or which way to go. People can only stand around for so long before they feel like its not worth coming next time.

well the website is being built at the moment. Mailing list will be up shortly after that I've already made a facebook group a while ago. As for organisation it will probably be best to let me know what your planning and I can post of up and send a mail out. Also in wont be running any sort of forum on the site, at least for the time being, I think I'll just link here and alsc for now for discussions. So by tomorrow we will at the very least have a club page and the mailing list. The start of a club. Oh and as I have own host we can do pics and stuff too.

www.soaringsa.com it is, it's all registered and that. Well let me be the first to announce that tonight is going to be the first Soaring SA club meet... Now I know it's a bit soon but it's going to be at: Big Bucket Car Wash Parafield Gardens (Bunnings Car Park) Tonight 9:30pm - whenever Because basically my car needs petrol and a wash so I'll be there for at least an hour, if you can swing past for a chat or a wash that would be awesome. I'll be the one with the supercharged V8... LOL

Bah I've been at the river all weekend! I've missed a lot on here I see! I'm at O-week tomorrow working at the Adelaide Uni Footy Club Blacks tent if anybody wants to swing by and say hello and discuss stuff! While I'm sitting there I'm going to map out a cruise and evening for us! Can bring your friends as well! It doesn't always have to be just about the cars!

Chris I'm referring to those who are going to be at Adelaide Uni next week, I've seen a few nice Soarers around the Uni and I want to see who owns them I'm with a few mates representing the uni footy club and trying to score some recruits! Wouldn't mind scoring some Soarer Central recruits either!
