If you are going to B&B i would suggest heading out of brissy either up the coast and stay up at Malaney in mountains which is beautiful. *there are also wineries up that way too
If you choose to head south... stay around Binna Burra or Mt Tamborine.
Both these locations have some WICKED roads ! Some are more bumpy than others but thats the name of the game im afraid.
But yeh, plenty of great drives out in those areas and its all nice and green at the moment thanks to all our rain we have been getting lately.

Yeah, as James said anywhere near the dams (NW of Brisbane) near the Glasshouse mountains and north of there into the range is good for a squirt (and a bit of fast driving for that matter).

Natural Bridge on the Gold Coast suits soarers very well with a nice mix of straights and high speed corners. Binna Burra not so much because of all the hair pins. Haven't seen many cops out there and the roads are clean. Very nice scenery as well.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I asked a friend and we decided on Mt Tamborine too, are there any specific roads or routes that are particularly good?

If you are going up Tamborine Mountain, you need to go up the section from Canungra if you want a tight fast section. From Tamborine village is not bad either, but forget about going up the main road from the highway as you will be blocked by other drivers and it is often policed.
