| hey guys recently just got ahold of a uzz31 soarer mods: custom body kit custom leather retrim lowered exuast. aftermarket steering wheel 18 chrome wheels. Needs a bit of TLC, car orginally from NSW. Has the common alternator/power steering pump problem so iv been told, but the battery i chucked in came up with no warning signs so ill have to double check that at a mechanics to see if charging/drawing amps. Will the pits want the factory wheels and airbag steering wheel on there? or will they let that slide or be able get permits for it. Now to workshops (yes i did a search but the findings were a bit outdated and nothing too specific) and regarding the "Good workshops in wa" thread, i only noticed 3 performance shops mentioned. No performance mods will be yet as such so i dont want to pay the higher rates they generally attract. Just need the general fix ups/mechanical work needed. Also they tend to be very hard to book in/contact and sometimes arent too enthuisatic about general mechanical work. So what workshops would be keen on going through the process of helping me take this through the pits and that know their stuff! I dont want to get ripped off and dont want mechanics poking around charging me double becuase they dont know the toyota soarer very well. Sometimes the process can be a lengthy one so a friendly/patient/soarer expert would be great. I live in north fremantle, but the car is garaged in bentley so somewhere between those areas is fine. cheers jesse. |

| Sounds nice, pics please. Dude, I've been getting my work done by Joe (sorry don't know last name) whom I got hold of through Regan at Distinctive Auto's. He works out of Distinctive as well but is up in Wangarra, but well worth the trouble of getting the car up there. Can't fault his work, knows about soarers inside and out, is well priced and does a fantastic job. He looks after your car and you and is a great source of information, He put a supercharger on my 31 over christmas and I havn't had a lick of problem with it. I LOVE MY CAR!!! His number is 0408935700 Other people will surely have their own mechanics they swear by and I rarely pedastool someone but as far as I'm concerned you can't go wrong with Joe. In fact Regan at Distinctive's is very knowledgable and helpful as well. Well good luck with it, I look forward to seeing the car when it's on the road. Peace out |

| Jesse, im about to rego my QLD plated car. I have regoed 2 V8s from interstate so perhaps i could help. Hollywood Joe at DCI is brilliant for he has also spent a fair bit of time on my last V8. If you dont fix the power steering pump it will cost you $650+ for a new alternator within the next week. |

| You will need a Factory Wheel for sure, it's actually illegal and you can be fined something like up to $11,000 for not having the air bag wheel fitted. Something I was looking into and was told that I really didn't want to be in that position! |

| I have a 94 V8 and i dont have a factory fitted SRS steering wheel, hence i dont have SRS airbags. If you dont have a factory fitted wheel you 'might' be ok. Its a 1991 year car and back then SRS was an option. Hardly any pit inspectors at the DPI will know. |

still trying to figure out how to drop the car off and get back. Also been following you with the whole emission test debacle you went through with your soarer. Has put me off getting my 1uzfe ma61 supra (adaptronic/itbs/headers/5speed) engineered for awhile until they get more experienced at it. |

Car was stuck in the garage (keys left in another house) so will have to excuse the pictures, but these teasers will have to do until i get some better ones up. http://img198.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p1100673.jpg http://img198.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p1100671.jpg http://img198.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p1100676.jpg http://img198.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p1100678.jpg

| Mate go ahead with the 1uz conversion for the supra, make the mod list and take it over the pits. Chances are you wont need the emissions test. I just got conned into having one done where it wasnt close to necessary. |

| adam, supra has been up and running for awhile now. Was regoed, then got a yellow and when i went to the pits i had to submit the MOD approval form where engineering and emissions testing are both requested, doh! |

| Hey Jesse, If you need someone to follow you up to take you back home, I'll do it. Weekdays are out for following you up, I can still pick you up from there, but by the time I get to your place after work will be too late. Otherwise I could follow you up on a saturday. If the car runs, then get a day pass from the licensing centre. It'll cost you money though.... Otherwise if you're really stuck, I may (that is may) be able to borrow a mates car trailer and dad's navara to tow it. Nice buy dude, I like the kit on it. You wouldn't want to take the car back to original stock and give me the kit by any chance??? |

You can get temporary permit's over the phone from the Licensing Dept. for pennies a pop.

I think on these forums these other mechanics you refer to all go by some variation of "Hollywood Joe" =P |

Have you got jumper leads?, if not let me know and I'll make sure I've got some on board, just in case you need a buzz on the way up. Might have to change me number plate to read "MUZZ". Get it??? Oh, forget it... I'll send you a PM with my contact details, just let me know when you wish to do it. |

| I'm happy making it a mini cruise (I might see if I can get my wheel alignment redone whilst up there. Had to put a new tyre on (put 4 brand spankers on chrissie time, but punctured one last week) and now it is out to sh#t again. I think the guys who put the tyre on for me near my work stuffed the tyre balancing as well. Not Happy Jan... Just got to see when Jesse's ready to take his car up Ali. I might even go up Sat anyway. Adam Peterson, what mods are you trying to get cleared? |

| Hey Adam P Just noticed your '31 is a 94 as well. Nice one, Pretty rare year dude. You gonna join us Sat? 300rwkw??? fwark!!! Droooool... Those Rush extractors are wicked eh? I got a set on mine to go with my blower. Got to finnish the exhaust though (even though I do like the sound of the extractors with the rear mufflers removed) and still only running the factory ECU and Injectors. Only dyno'd 223hp on 6psi when we checked the tune. Waiting for more money to continue my fantasy. Nice photo's on your page... where's your car though??? |

Well hope to see you there, if not, then next time, who knows, miight see you out on the road somewhere. Still Keen to Follow you up, If leaving your place around 8:30 is too early, then I should be able to get back to your place (Jesse) by around 11:30. Would that suit you better? |

| ok, 11:30 it is i guess (might be a better turnout with this time, if there is one at all haha), where are you getting your wheel alignment done though? not double backing are you? not too to keen on publicly posting my address. email me for those who are interested. star_of_jesse@hotmail.com cant see needing anything, though if the battery runs flat might need to swap with someone else mid way, but hopefully it will make the trip. everyone up for a feed afterwards? |

| ok guys, Adam had a smart idea of a meetup point that would be close to my house instead of emailing my address to everyone interested, so here it is. Pretty much follow queen st as it turns into a small carpark where we cant meet/park up. See the map below. Meet up at 11:30 - then when we are all ready to cruise, head up to 26 Berriman Drive Wangara, where ill be dropping off my soarer for joe at DCI for him to look at next week. Big thanks again to adam for the kind offer to drop me back home. Much appreciated . Now once thats done maybe we could either grab something to eat and have a yarn/keep cruising/or head our seperate ways. Since its short notice and i dont have a cruise map available i vote for a lunch and a get to know eachother.
whos keen? |
