G'day all,
I have organised a performance drive in your own car at AHG on the 6th of June. It was for me and my mates but I have extra spots if anyone is keen.

Sorry guys, should have given more details,
It is $80/car (payment on day) spectators free, it starts at 8am and finishes around 12. I have about 7 spots open.
On the day you will need closed in shoes, long pants, long sleave shirt and a helmet, or you can use one of the instructors helmets.
Looking at heading to the greenwood pub after for some grub and a few beverages. |

I did this a few years ago, was great fun - even though I was in a big boring heavy V6 commodore.
I would love to hit it with the soarer, but I think there are a few things I want to sort out mechanically until I push it on one of these things.
I might come out to watch though - and get some photos/videos.

nah, p platers are fine... if it means anything to ya, im away for work this week and have an exam on Monday the 7th.
In sayin that, after tonight i wont be able to check any responses until at least Monday 1 June. So if people dont hear from me dont panic, ive already paid so the event is still on, im just on a business trip. I have 5 more spots after Ali so first in, best dressed. |

Definitely put me down for a spot. I watched everyone else enjoy an AHG day back in '06, and always regretted not getting in on it. Won't miss out a 2nd time (even if I am a slow V8 with a single-spinner).

Haha, I dunno about that. Since installing my RSM Saturday night, my best 0-100 has been 7.45s. Not really lightning fast. |

I did this last time with the soarer club, I highly recommend it.But we did not need the use of an helmet.Is this a definate reguirement.So make sure your tyre pressure higher than normal. |

TBH im not sure they worry too much (or check) the rego thing - they do look at drivers licenses but the car itself just needs to be reasonably roadworthy and not look like its gonna fall apart or kill someone
Hell my track car has been out there several times and it is instant yellow sticker material... i guess the only question is if you havnt got plates how you gonna get it to the venue?

I'm getting some lucas pads off Dave over east.
Anyone want some as well, might as well get them all sent over in one hit, might save on postage.
Here's an idea (probably not the first to bring it up), how about we in WA form a Track club, where we organise and go to Track/Performance/Country Road cruizin' days. The club (with some financial support (Raffles, Donations [individual and corporate], other fund raising)
That way the club can own things like spare helmets, brake pads, have workshop days, etc. Members can turn up and have some info and tech support.
It'll cost members $50-$100 a year and that's it. Money for the event's will come from fund raising and event's will happen when enough money to cover them has been raised. A non-profit organisation.
I know, I know, with anything like this, you have only one or two people doing all the work, I'll be willing to help organise events and fund raisers, but don't have the knowledge or experience to run track events.
What's the response???
If it's good, I might try posting this under it's own topic. |

Ali full-face ones are fine thats what most people (including myself) use at this level as theyre cheaper than car race helmets, you should be able to get something decent for around 200-300 just make sure its a snug fit and it has the Australian Standards sticker on it
MotoX helmets though are not acceptable
Adam not to put a dampener on a good idea but i dont think theres enough people to make a club viable - from what ive seen in other forums/clubs you really need quite a lot of people showing interest as most of the time you have to figure on only a fraction of those actually paying and doing an event at any one time |

Yeah, fair-nough. Just a thought that crossed my mind as I was posting. My Dad's in a club set up simularily, but they get dinner's and lunches at winery', etc, so I thought, wouldn't it be great to have something like that running for track/performance/etc days.
