I agree with matt 100%, I live in a private estate which still is in development. There are heaps of straight clean road and at 3 in the morrning all you can hear are little wankers dropping burnouts and driving up and down.
Just something temporay untill someone decides to put
in traffic island or speed humps our good friend works with a road construction company and has block off the road with the big plastic barriers fill with water. Haha. The last month sleep has never felt this good.

Matthew, your arguments are null and void, and full of emotion. QQ.

350rwkw+ at a pooftenth over the legal limit when the gate isnt on is OK in my books, and probably not in a lot of others. Its not stupidly loud as it does have 2 resonators and two mufflers on a 3" twin system. When the gate comes on, its on for young and old, however I have to be at 4500rpm for that to happen :-) Driving around town, its not stupidly loud, but does sound modified. I've never had anyone shake their head or tell me off for the loudness, even through a booze bus - because its not that loud if you keep the boot out of it :-)

I ride defensively all the time - but wtf can I do when I am next to a concrete barrier and some dip shi.t thinks that it would be a good idea to merge into the far right lane when I am next to them - even away from their blind spot? My loud pipes have saved me plenty of times. I will always choose to have my loud pipes, over someone else's temporary discomfort for the 1 second that I pass them doing the speed limit. They are not even that loud, but definitely sound trick.

I like loud exhausts - others will have to deal with it. If it pisses others off, f.uck em. :-) Sure its anti social, selfish and not correct by democratic standards, but this is my hobby and I am not obsequiously submissive to other peoples' needs. I choose to modify cars, enjoy them as a hobby and an occupation. An after market exhausts come with the territory and in most cases it is a necessary evil. There's larger things in law and life to be worried about than some exhaust noise.

Burnouts and hooning - not something that I appreciate on the streets as too many spastics think they are good drivers when they are not. I get cock smokers ripping it up outside my workshop all the time because they have left the carwash and need to show how manly they are with ripping a skid on wet tyres. These wanker drivers and the bob jane T marts cockheads have already tarnished the crap jap import/modified reputation with their antics and this campaign is an exact retaliation to that.

Some people do not like loud exhausts, I do.... end of story. Carefactor? Zero.

Loud pipes do not save lives. Yes I used to drive a loud TL1000R. Yes I used to say loud pipes save lives. Yes I was full of it.

Natasha I did not say I follow the rules. I said I respect the fact that they are there and if we want to break them we need to do it with some degree of control or we will end up in the situation we are in right now. If you go back and read my posts, and look at what I spend my money on, you can guarantee I break a lot more of the rules than most of you. But I do have respect and I do "care". The road is not personally mine. It is not my right to wake people up at night. The "I don't care I'll do what I want" attitude is what has brought the police down on us all. I'm not saying you do bad things and it's your fault. I'm saying that attitude in general with people who just make noise everywhere with no regard for others, is what is wrong.

I think if you do really have the attitude that you want to make as much noise as you feel like making, and screw everyone else, that's a pretty sad indictment on your character.

by the look of your list of cars you have miles im sure they let out a noise when you open them up.

Unless you collect them to show everyone what you have.

i know when i am following lunatics in cars that are not paying attention, when i open the throttle a bit they look to see me there.

And yes i think your full of it lol

Well there is a time and place for everything, thrashing your car around with straight pipes around a quiet area acting like King is bound to get you reported.

If you're on the highway it's fine to give it a bit but not where you're going to be disturbing others.

There is a time and place for everything and we all like to Modify our cars the way we like as Natasha mentioned but as long as we're sensible it's fine.

I know of somebody on my Street who runs his Hilux off the exhaust manifold, I bet he has the care factor = zero attitude too, and he payed for it when some good samaritan broke into his car and turned on the headlights to be on all night, we all slept easy that morning.

Like I said Costa, I don't know you so I'm not trying to pass judgment on you in particular. Like you say, with a good setup its more about how you drive & where than how loud your car is at WOT.

Your car is clearly an awesome beast to be putting down that kind of power and you are probably a true enthusiast who uses all that power at the track, not a poser who sees every dead end street as an excuse to lay some rubber just because he can.

I just believe the laws on noise limits for street legal vehicles are just and right and should be policed - because some people just can't help themselves. That argument is not null and void, and too right I'm emotional about it - lots of people are because its a real problem!

If you ever have a 6 month old baby woken at 3am by a couple of dicks racing right outside your house with illegal exhausts, you might feel differently too.

I find I rarely agree with Miles (lol), but he and Matthew are spot on here. There are some inconsiderate dickheads in our area who like to do repeat laps of the suburb at 2-3am, revving out to the redline in 1st, second and third gears. In the still of the morning you can hear them from a distance of around 1/2 kilometre or more. While they regularly wake me and my wife up, I have yet to see their cars, but I'm sure they're the typical crap wanker cars with the dogs ball mufflers hanging out under the back bumper bar. I hope the cops catch them and crush their crap cars.
If you can't improve the performance of your car without being an inconsiderate nuisance to your neighbours then time to give it away I think. As Peter said, I agree that it often comes down to how you drive your car in a built up area. A bit of restraint and consideration for others goes a long way.

There will be wankers that will ruin it for everyone, in any hobby. Cars are just a general tool that every one has and as such, the government can make money from it and target specific segments.

Some will get caught out, most will not. The media release shows that its just a campaign against hoons in response to the bob jane bs and they need to look like they are doing something. That being said, most of the cars that I see pulled over for whatever reason are not 'hoon' cars but your garden variety 80s and 90s cars. Vicpol is working hard to earn their wages from the streets, under the aurora of safety.

Pipedown is over now, I wonder how successful they were :-)

Pretty safe, they built a for-purpose facility in Essendon just for the hoon law impounds. They have their own tow truck contractors and impound fees so they make the money back.

My favorite is the person at the end with a skyline.

Should this be the response you people give the police when they pull you over for a loud exhaust.... and your argument is that you like to mod your car the way you like, and drive it as loud as you like wherever you like?

To which the police can rightly reply "here's your penalty".

I don't think this is about revenue at all. Speed cameras are about revenue. They are not making relatively much at all out of pipedown.

It is all about the issue. Too many idiots breaking the rules blatantly have enraged the general public. We only have ourselves to blame (as a group). I'm pissed off the hobby has been inundated with these people.

I agree with your point, Boris, but that video is a massive beat-up. Listen to the tendentious ACA voiceover, to a conservative shock-jock advocating police violence as a solution, and the NSW opposition spokesman trying to garner votes by advocating that the penalty for verbal insult be time in gaol. The information about the hoon attitudes is salutary but the wrapper on the story is ridiculous. I noted also several racist comments emerging under the video. Presumably those writers fantasise that they are somehow better than the people in the video.

I think violence could be an answer. Sometimes it's all people like that understand. When I was a dirty little bastard the cops still handed out beltings. So you didn't pull crap like that. I used to go watch illegal drags and when the cops showed up everyone RAN. We also knew not to do it within a couple km of any houses so noone would be disturbed. There was some respect for the public and the police, while not for the law. We at least knew we were doing something wrong and had the decency to behave ourselves. Those idiots think their behaviour should be legal. Burnouts etc should not ever be legal.

Lol what a crap video. They got the lowest of the low to display acts of hoonism so they can make a video broadcast of some dip s.hits tearing up the streets.

Sadly, the law is made for these tards, who are the lowest common denominator. Sydney was the first to legislate car acquisition laws due to hooning to combat this exact type of behavior. It does suck to associate by hobby with such people.

Anyway, tougher laws and more bulls.hit will come in the near future as a knee jerk response to ACA videos and synthesized public opinion form such displays of crap. Sydney has a drag strip that is dedicated to its community, so they have no excuse for taking it out on the streets.
