Guys, the word on the street is that you would be well advised to stay clear of the SummerNats.

I am waiting on confirmation, but apparently the violence has now started in Canberra (probably be on your TV news tonight) and retaliations are expected. Bikie gangs are now getting involved and the SummerNats are being targeted.

Not seeing anything mentioned on the ABC web site for national or local ("Yass water woes") news with the last stories marked around 15-30 minutes ago.... Edit: Not being cynical but certainly curious.

David, initial information comes from someone that was caught up in it late last night. Not been able to get it contact yet with people that might be able to confirm it for me.

I also saw this Friday, December 2, 2005. 2:21pm (AEDT) Army rolls into Summernats The 2006 Summernats festival has been launched with the help of the Army. Summernats organisers have teamed up with the Australian Defence Force to jointly promote the festival and Army trade apprenticeships. Festival promoter Chic Henry says there will be some new features at Summernats, including the Army's new six-wheel drive supercharged vehicle called Army-geddon. "People are going to look at it and say 'what is this thing?' because it is extreme in the most extreme way," he said. "It's a mad-looking vehicle and I know [Army chief] General Peter Leahy is really proud of all his men that have been working on this vehicle and it's going to be something special at the Summernats."

Caught up in it.......in Canberra? If it's a credible source, why has nothing been heard any members living here. I'd be curious to hear more detail, as no doubt would other ACT members. Seems a little sketchy to date. Maybe you'd like to elaborate Pete. |

Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see something hit the fan at the 'Nats. Lot's of people from broad racial backgrounds, lot's of alcohol, and lot's of testosterone. The recipe is there. Let's hope it all goes smoothly though.
