Hi all, a few of us are looking at cruising up to Newcastle this Sat 17th August from Sydney to Newcastle, via wiseman ferry route.
Typical route would likely be meet somewhere in sydney, run the 5 hairpins on Galston road via hornsby heights, link to old northern road, up to wiseman ferry park (break).
Then continue on crossing the ferry, we'll run up wiseman ferry road till we get to peats ridge road. From there we'll join back the F3 and head up to newie.
Would like to then meet up with soarer owners in newie if any is interested. Location: undecided yet / TBA Time: maybe for lunch somewhere?
Any sydney siders are welcome to join. Some of us do have some other commitments when we reach newcastle so where and when you guys leave to head back to syd is up to you.
I'll update with more info when the time swings around.
4 of us are somewhat confirmed doing the route.
Any advice, suggestions for feeding grounds are much welcomed!!
I'll be trying to do some photography with the cars at stop points.
This is also my first time trying to organise such an impromptu cruise so any advice as to how long between stops for engine cooling etc is more than welcome...
I have run the route a few times the opp direction now seems like a nice leisure run... There are some areas with rougher road conditions and I'm not intending to fang it....
The last time I went, there was an accident (ute slam into power pole) so there were 2 HWPs cruising the route after the accident (they had no other routes to go)..... It was painful watching the HWP follow a stretch of cars behind an L plater going at 50 in a 60 zone

The cruise is still on. Finalising some details (morning meeting point etc) before I post.
Run will be:
Meet somewhere (maybe epping train station parking area/ some maccas) some photos if cars are together. Could be an early start about 8am meet, 8.30 drive off.
Drive through galston hairpins via hornsby heights
There was not very good weather forecast earlier in the week. But it seems like its going to be a 4am light shower, and sunny whole day sat. So if we drive to conditions should be a decent drive. We are only looking at a leisurely cruise, drive to conditions, and probably sticking to most of the speed limits
Anyone can leave at anytime at any where. so no worries with that. Hope to see u guys

The mother-in-law arrives home from the shops to find her son-in-law boiling angry and hurriedly packing his suitcase. "What happened ?" she asks anxiously.
"What happened!! I'll tell you what happened. I sent an SMS to my wife telling her I was coming home early from my Soarer cruise with the boys.
I get home... and guess what I found ? Yes, your daughter, my Jean, with a naked guy in our marital bed! This is unforgivable, the end of our marriage. I'm done. I'm leaving forever!"
"Calm down, calm down!" says his mother-in-law. "There is something very odd going on here. Jean would never do such a thing! There must be a simple explanation. I'll go speak to her immediately and find out what happened."
Moments later, the mother-in-law comes back with a big smile.
" I told you there must be a simple explanation .....she didn't receive your SMS!"

Well I'm not needed for work in Sydney tomorrow any more so should be able to come out for a meet up in Newy, got to drop the hire car off at the airport in the morning though.

I will try to pick up the group at the top of the Galston Gorge on the H/H side all things being equal around 0900. I live just around the corner of Galston road so I will try & make it. I do this run quite regularly its not bad. I will leave the group at Peats Ridge & head back to Hornsby.

Latest slight change. Unfortunately the meet over at Josh's place is now cancelled.
I'll update if I can think of any other places to meet up..
If you guys over in Newie decide to meet somewhere, please do not hesitate to post it here.. Probably still be at 2pm. I'll try to check when we get into Newie and head over or something.

We just reached twin servos...we r looking to meet up at multistorey carpark in newcastle uni (enter via roundabt at university drive, on the left)... We should reach abt 2.30pm.

I'll (or someone will) post if there is another cruise or meet coming up..
Below are some of the routes I am thinking of doing sometime... Some may look at doing an overnight stay or something...
I am thinking about From Sydney: Bells Lines of Road/ Katoomba route Royal National Park/ Wollongong/ Kiama route Canberra (Floriade/skyfire/Autumn)
From Newcastle, Lake St Clair cruise Nelsons bay/Salamandar Bay (Would love to run Pokolbin.. but certain parts of the roads are horrible)
would be good for advice for those of you who have had done cruises before.
Any locals who have done the route/s before are most welcome to advice or lead hehe... Me being on my P (105 max on highways) and a stocky 2JZ-GE will round up the end
