Pitty I can't attach the SMS transcripts here showing exactly the conversation and what happened.
Undisputed Facts:
I offered RIK his $500 deposit refund back and the car, untouched, twice upon the return of my loan car, when he I knew I was short on time and couldn't finish it on time in the 2-4 week window we had said.
He couldn't afford to take it anywhere else and didn't have the funds ready to go at the time. Price was agreed on before job commenced.
$2750 for change over 1JZ engine, working turbos, supplied, fitted and installed. Charged extra $250 for upgrading a few other parts such as Valve stem seals etc while the engine was out. 3 Month warranty.
The car had chronic brake shudder and rack play and advised that it probably needed more testing and a reco rack / tie rods / tie rod ends on inspection as well as wheel bearings and rotors to check to see if they were true. I didn't take on this job to repair even though he requested it after hand over.
His car was dropped off Early June 2015 after he blew his engine, Returned early-Mid November. ~4-5 months turnaround time and he's had a loan car nearly end to end.
The interesting timeline is that I did the valve stem seals in Jan 15. He Contact me in May 15 asking for quotes on engines and turbo installs.
Admits that he was driving and the engine stopped with a huge puff of smoke. Refsues to start, just kicks over, makes rattling noises.
Quoted on turbos, engine and repairs. Rear turbo failed, lost oil pressure, scored bearings and loss of compression to excessive wear.
Ah well. I know the facts and have the transcripts and photos to prove it. Shame you can't see the truth for what it is Rik and just admit your fault and shortcommings in this situation.
I'll get around to hosting the SMS screenshots and linking them up if people want.

It was definitely a nice gesture of Costa to lend out his car I don't know the details but I would say 25+ year old car is bound to have issues. I would also say to Rik 300,000km is decent amount of KMs and as above the age of the car really is a key factor in all of this.
You guys could have easily gone and bought another soarer instead of all this hassle. They aren't worth nearly the coin that's being spent here.

Scott, exactly your choice. Was this a braided line install? Just seems odd / expensive to quote that.
Bleeding the brakes is not an easy task on the soarer and should be done manually, road tested, rechecked and re-bled. It's a 2 man job, 2x wages. If you have a TRC master, it's even harder to get it right. Brake line changes or brake upgrades make it worse again - more air to bleed out of the system.
I ended up fixing my GE soarer at my own cost because the guy's a broke dead beat who would rather argue lies than the facts, which by his own admission, has said that the radiator cracked on his watch and he filled it up with chemi-weld instead of coming forward with the issue when it first happened.
happens, but I'm not going to sit here and take pot shots on a public forum, when there's two sides of the story.
It's all behind me now and when I open up again, it's going to be part time, select work only that I want to tune or work on, as it's more of a hobby now for me to work on my own fleet of cars and restore them. Not interested racing down to the lowest dollar on a competing quote or stressing about 10 projects at once with customer cash flow problems.
The performance scene is a terrible way to make money and a good way to drive a person insane.
Now I can enjoy my cars and mods on my own terms instead of having to strip them down for parts to make ends meet.
Life is good =)

how many people are sh!tting on my work? just 1, and hes full of sh!t
the only thing that you got right in your story was the fact i worked for you. and i quickly left after i watched how much of a sh!t show you were. the mechanic before me probably saw the same sh!t show and high tailed it too.
6-7 years later what am i doing? still working on cars? what are you doing? getting pegged no doubt.
