Apologies to you too David!!!!! Since we're likely to have some people travelling from Sydney on the morning of the cruise, it may be worth meeting somewhere near where Sutton Road/Majura Road end - one option may be the car park at Anzac Park West - corner of Anzac Parade and Constitution Avenue (opposite St John's Anglican Church). That should be fairly easy for interstate travellers to get too and should be fairly central in terms of everyone in Canberra meeting there. It also means that we can have a fun cruise down to the Cotter via the Parkway and then the Cotter Road (or if we want to do the cruise the other way we can head down the Monaro Highway). Any thoughts on this????

"Anzac Park West" is a bit, well, Canberran. In fact if an incoming driver asked a local they probably would not know either. If that is the place then I think we should put up a detailed map of the route to the carpark. Plan B is send them up Mt Ainslie or Black Mountain. They can not miss them and it also allows driving down Majura lane and back in to Mt Ainslie (also handy to Queanbeyan) which skips the city until they see it from above. Another easy-to-find spot would be the carpark just off Commonwealth Avenue before the bridge but it might not have room at the time. We need a prominent landmark or something off a main road.

David - I suggested Anzac Park West as it is very easy to direct people to from Majura Road/Sutton Road (detailed maps and directions will be easy to do and I am more than happy to do them). Aslo - the majority of people who will be attending will be Canberran. It is a large car park which is unlikely to be used on Sunday mornings (unless there is a huge crowd at the church at that time!!!). The prominent landmark would be Anzac Parade/War Memorial. Mt Ainslie is tricky to get to at the moment due to the roadworks in the area - you need to go past it down to the War Memorial and then do a u-turn back towards it. I really don't mind where we meet - what do others think???

How about meeting at the big open carpark at Canberra/Bruce Stadium? Just off Giniderra Drive. Easy access to that road from Northbourne Avenue as well. Sunday morning and won't be in use. Otherwise, we could always meet at the car fair at Natex/Exhibiton Park. Again, right off Northbourne. Just a couple of suggestions?

I'd prefer somewhere near Civic as it is more central for everyone to get to and also then easy to start the cruise - either head down Parkes Way on to the Tuggeranong Parkway and onto the Cotter Road or the other way down Parkes Way onto the Monaro Highway.

If you want a carpark in Barton then the one behind Treasury, (near the National Library) will be less occupied than the one near the National Gallery which is where Finance is (fewer visitors at the Library end). It is also slightly easier to direct people there because it is essentially straight off Commonwealth Avenue across the bridge. If something more attractive is preferred (e.g. by me for one), how about near Nara Park, behind the Hyatt? Also very easy for directions because you turn left and under the bridge after crossing it (or, if you miss that, right at the first set of lights and right at the first roundabout). As well as being a bit prettier than an office carpark, it has the advantage that the cars are parked close to the road and easily spotted by people searching for them, not behind hedges or trees. After photos there, we can go back over the bridge to the Parkway, or down Adelaide Avenue to the overpass to the Cotter road, or the scenic route along the lake road through Yarralumla and on to the Cotter road from there.

David - I think the idea of the car park behind Treausry (near the National Library) is good - the Nara Park car park could be crowded on a Sunday morning. Lets make it the car park behind Treasury and then we can take up Greg's suggestion of finding somewhere near the lake (or maybe in front Old Parliament House) for photos before we head off. I'll look for a map on whereis and post it up later.

Last time I checked there where a few car parks around Treasury Building. And the back of the building depends on where you look at it from. We have 3 options. Treasury is the pink X and JGB is the green X. Red circle is JGB car park. Yellow circle is Treasury 1. Blue is Treasury 2. I can guarentee that on a Sunday JGB Car park will be empty.

I'm sorry if this post offends anyone, but can we please, please, please just decide on a meeting place. All I think we need is a fairly large car park that is central for everyone to meet in and easy to start the cruise route from, likely to be empty or relatively empty on a Sunday morning and is easy to find (for people who are coming from Sydney/Forster etc). Can someone just make a decision please

The one circled in yellow is just behind the first ugly building you see as you turn off after Commonwealth Avenue Bridge. Therefore, it is easy to find. Like the JGB one, it will be empty. There are three other places I would prefer for aesthetic reasons but they all lose on space or ease of being found or accessed on the day. None of the other practical ones improve on this one for accessibility. That is as far as I can go toward a decision.

David..........With all due respect....."Ugly building", "Aesthetic reasons"? No offence but it's just a spot to meet up and launch a cruise. Didn't realise we were looking for portfolio shots. If people want to head somewhere to take glamour shots, surely the cruise could head somewhere from the meeting point, take the shots, and then continue on the planned cruise route from there. If this doesn't get sorted soon, and I honestly don't have a preference for one spot over another, I think I might just leave my car in the garage and park myself in front of the footy for the day.
