Ok - here goes for some directions for people from interstate who are joining us for the cruise:
Map 1 If you are travelling to Canberra from Bowral/Sydney etc the Federal Highway becomes Northbourne Avenue soon after you enter Canberra. If you are travelling to Canberra through Yass/Murrembateman (along the Barton Highway), turn right at the end of the Barton Highway onto Northbourne Avenue.
Follow Northbourne Avenue.
Map 2 Follow Northbourne Avenue.
Note there is a speed/red light camera at the Northbourne Avenue intersection with Mouat Stree/Antill Street.
Map 3 Follow Northbourne Avenue.
Map 4 Follow Northbourne Avenue.
Note there is a speed/red light camera at the intersection of Northbourne Avenue and Barry Drive/Cooyong Street.
Map 5 Follow Northbourne Avenue which becomes Vernon Circle.
Note there is a speed/red light camera at the intersection of Northbourne Avenue and London Cicruit.
Map 6 Follow Vernon Circle which becomes Commonwealth Avenue.
Map 7 As you are going over Commonwealth Avenue bridge, move into the left hand lane and take the first exit (just after the bridge) onto King Edward Terrace.
Map 8 As soon as you get onto King Edward Terrace, there is a set of traffic lights where your need to turn right. Take the first turn on the left into Newlands Street and you will find the car park where we are meeting.
or for those who prefer google - look for the famous (or infamous) yellow circle!!!!!

David Vaughan TryHard Soarer GT Limited (4.0L V8) and is300 (3.0L il6)
Jut out of curiosity, so I know what time to leave...what kinda timeframe would I be looking at getting from lets say, in Sydney where King Georges Rd turns onto the Hume Hwy/M5 to the meeting point? If anyone would roughly know?
I think we have another Tentative'er, Mick Jackson that will be joining in if I go.
Peter Burrett Tinkerer How about allowing the few of us to say ST?

Greg - from what I can gather through some searching on the internet and talking to people at the Canberra Visitors Centre - its 72km around Tourist Drive 5 starting from Parliament House. The 72 km includes going through Tharwa and back up the Monaro Highway. However, there is a slight technical difficulty at Tharwa at the moment (ie the bridge is closed until further notice - likely to be another 6 months).
Taking Tourist Drive 5 and not going to Tharwa (coming back across Point Hut Crossing) will shorten the cruise.
Another option - which I think may be similar to what David is suggesting as a possible option - would be to head out past the Cotter and Tidbinbilla along Tourist Drive 5 through Tharwa and then out to Angle Crossing and Williamsdale and back up the Monaro Highway.
