Excellent! Best we add a suggestion for people to bring a couple of chops/saussies/sandwhiches or whatever takes your fancy for lunch then. I have plenty of plates and plastic cups, maybe not quite enough cutlery depending if you eat with your fingers. Bring drink, sunscreen and a hat as well, looking like excellent but warm weather.

So, at the back of your shop then Peter? What time are you looking at kicking off? BTW I also moonlight as a grill chef, so if you all want to fix my car for me, I'll cook lunch :-)

If anyone wants to see the soarer 'inner sanctum' or what a near totally stripped interior looks like, stick your head in my car. Good for track days, stage 1.5 weight reduction anyone?

Adam, may as well do your BFI while we're at it this weekend, what you reckon?

1 more thing...

If anyone wants stuff made from fibreglass/carbonfibre/kevlar or a combination of all three, bring the item along and I'll quote you on making it , or get back to you with a quote if it's out of my league (ie anything that need to be vacuum formed).

Ah, Celsior owners welcome!! Wonderful. I was looking forward to popping in. No work really needing to be done, but I am keen to see what is entailed in a BFI and perhaps even have a discussion about delimiting the cruise control, and find if that has been done on a Celsior. I am happy to bring stuff, or even other stuff so let me know

Ben, aiming for a 10:00am start, but it's not critical, people can turn up any time really. Earlier just means more time to actually get things done :-)

Phew, brakes have been just done. Am sooo glad. At least I can cross one thing off the list. Thanks PN for the link...very helpful (I stood around and watched).

As for BBQ on Sat, am sure that I read on one of the profiles that one of the guys is a butcher? Maybe if we ask really nicely, he might be willing to bring the meat? (no pun).

At least this way, instead of everyone bringing their own (plus possible extra's for bribery), we can all chip in for one bulk order. The only thing I could offer would be along the lines of chicken, chicken and chicken! Let me know what you think.

That would be Gary most likely, but he will be in Victoria for the weekend.

I figured if you brung your own, then everyone could be happy eg chook or fish freaks, vegetarians, big eaters, little eaters, shaslick lovers, etc.

If you or anyone wanted to organise a bulk buy however, it would probably be appreciated.

If it helps, Big-W and Coles supermarkets aren't far away. Possibly do something on the day for those that find it easier to not bring it along?

Have you got a fridge available to keep chook cool?

Will find out tomorrow what I can get my hands on. Any preferences as to wing/drum/kebabs? Flavours?

Yep, reasonable fridge, more room if I take some bottle out (which have been there for ages anyway) :-)

I don't mind either way about BBQ tucker, but don't over do it in case everyone else brings some as well. :-) It's possibly getting short notice to start a food pool?

But I am happy to do it that way if you are OK with that. :-)

Sound like this will be a good day for the Soarer's and their owners. I will be there as support crew and maybe someone can help me ID why my CD player isn't working and attempt to fix my passenger door (doesn't open from the outside). Also might be after some new trim for the hand brake.

Passenger door will probably be the little plastic clip. Don't wind the window down as it can catch and wreck the linkage making it a serious repair instead of a simple one.

I actually have a spare passengers side clip here, bought it as preventative maint for mine, haven't replaced it yet.

Mine constantly kept breaking - and yes I put the window down and caused some major damage.

To help re-inforce the plastic clip, have put a glad tie bag (zip lock) on top to help.

So far I have:

1 bulk box Satay Chicken Kebabs
1 carton Balinese Kebabs
(not sure but I think there is 40 kebabs per box)

Am still on the prowl to see 'what else' I can acquire. So I hope you like chicken kebabs. he he he

Kris, leads and plugs will take the longest. Not hard, just takes a bit of time, but do-able on the day. A real service would involve a whole lot of checking, brakes, etc.

We could probably get all your stuff done, and if you were keen, add a power steering flush (see tutorial) and change your diff oil as both of these probably haven't been done for a while. PCV valve and air filter would be simple jobs too.

Interesting that your clip keeps breaking. I actually tried to change the passengers one, couldn't get it to come off or to break off, perhaps I should have had you here :-)

There is a little plastic thingy that holds it together. I think that I was lifting the door handles too high and snapping them that way (use to fords). But, last time I had it fixed by GT Autosound they said that the whole locking mechanism is $$$ and they even refused to pay it. So the glad bag tie came to the rescue. Never had a problem since.

Interesting. The plastic clip simply holds the metal link bar in place. The metal bar takes all the strain, so lifting it too high shouldn't be a problem I would have thought. Just wear over a period of time. Must have been fun getting the tie in there?

Thanks Pen,

I am still trying to work out if i will have enough time to do the service on the day...but either way, would you be able to recommend some of the parts that i should purchase, and where i could get them from.

I was after good performance plugs (are the 4 point recommended??)
-what brand leads, and any part numbers that you may have
- Best oil type? and how much of it to purchase.
etc etc

I know I am asking a lot, but i am quite green when it comes to this, so all help is greatly appreciated.

I'm hoping that changing the plugs/leads and doing a good service will give me a bit of extra oomph under the foot....was kind of disappointed with my dyno run....so BFI and good parts are the go

Kris, just get stuck in and do what you can depending what parts you have been able to get. Eagle spark plug leads from Neil are $180 - cheaper then OEM's, but you might be pushing to get them on time. I don't have an opinion on performance plugs, but I fitted NGK Iridiums BKR6EIX-11 at around $18 each before getting 149.7 rwkw at the dyno day. I still had the old leads fitted at that time, and subsequent testing seems to show they are still quite OK.

If you were going to change both plugs and leads, doing them together would save duplicated effort. Or we can change your plugs and measure your leads on the day and see if they are OK.

Oil, you need 6 litres in my experience, I am now using Penrite HPR-10 which I got from Repco.

Oil filter, either genuine from Jeff (recommended) or generic Z481 (I have a couple of spares here $5.00).

Air filter - get OEM from CMI. 5 second job, can be done anytime, but certainly could make a difference if yours is old or a cheapie.

Can also get Honey Soy kebabs. Also wings and drumsticks (Honey soy, lemon pepper, Herb & Garlic). It doesn't bother me if they get thrown if there are too many. Or people can take.

As long as I don't have to cook !!!!!!
