Hi guys, I know this probably doesnt belong in here but I have been looking at transferring to Queensland for maybe a few years or even longer, will probably work on the gold coast, was just wanting to get an idea on what everyone thinks of the place, I have heard that QLD is a lot like WA, quite laid back etc...
Can anyone give me some suburbs to look at / stay away from for renting in Brisbane or the GC?

yeah if ya want laid back come to the GC, Brisbane can be a bit anal but then again so can GC cops! Nerang good for hinterland but Burleigh Heads if ya want close to the beach i reckon. Don't go anywhere near Surfers for apartment renting, traffic is a nightmare!

Stephen; mate it is a great place to live i have been here since april this year.... well the wife has .heheheh were abouts are you going to be working?? i am at Merrimac which is about 10 min from the surfers. 10 min from Burleigh heads. and 3 mins from the highway to get to Brisbane or coolangatta. quiet area and every thing is easy to get too. shops ,fuel, ETC Mate it is so easy to get around up here and most drivers are very courteous in the roads.

Thanks guys, dont know where I will end up just yet, I guess wherever they put me. I am still going over things at the moment, I will come over in myabe 2 or 3 weeks after I get back to Perth and suss it all out, I have a few friends to stay with so im sure they will show me around a bit. Just stay away from the Logan/woodridge area if you want to keep your car for more then 5 mins, that place is the ghetto! (sorry if anyone lives there )

I parked my old car at the hyperdome and walked in to get cash from an atm, walked out no more than 5 mins later to find a pile of smashed glass where my car HAD been.
