Ok people, considering how long it usually takes to organize things I thought I would start this thread.
The last dyno day we had was great fun and a good time was had. I think to further the fun, next time we will have the dyno day in the morning and then in the arvo head out to willowbank for some grudge matches.
Another club has said that you can hire willowbank prior to the regular test and tune opening for $50 total (which includes another crew member) and the regular test and tune. So racing would start at about 3pm as racing usually starts at about 5pm. So if we had a turn out of 30 cars it would cost $50 each they said. I am planning on ringing Willowbank Raceway and confirming this.
Would James want to organize the dyno side of it again? And I can organize the drag side of it.
I understand that in the past people have been very scared of racing at willowbank but it really isn’t that scary! No different to driving it hard on the street but 100% legal! Can’t get confiscated here.
At the moment I am thinking late May would be good as it is starting to cool down by then but it is isn’t too close to the Winternationals on June 12.
By the way, I will be inviting members from Toymods also to get the numbers up.

HI chris,
Im happy to organise another dyno day in the near (ish) future, but i dont know how much luck we would have getting in a dyno day AND track fun on one day.
Hopefully next dyno day i organise will get some more people involved and more people will actually run their rides also (i plan on running mine).
So may be easier if we just work on this puppies one at a time, not tryin to discourage, just seems like a logistical nightmare.
I may be keen for a track day also, depending on how my car is goin, but i would attend anyways to watch at least. Or maybe id run my 76 Mini Clubman to take you whale soarers in the corners ! ahaha

James,
I don’t think it would be that hard as long as we get the numbers to use Willowbank Raceway before the actual test and tune and if the numbers weren’t there we could just ditch that part and just go to the test and tune as normal. Very little organizing there just what time, what is required and where to go
Also, if people want to start setting up some grudge matches feel free to do so ie. After the last dyno day I said I would like to race Garry Boddis’ car at willowbank So pick someone that has similar sort of mods to you and have a go. It is awesome fun and it doesn’t matter if you win or lose as long as you have fun.

May seems good for me, i may be in melbourne doing a convention but hopefully i should be right. Now i am a working class man it gives me time to get it ready, my new gearbox and 5 puck clutch is sitting out the back of my house and soon will go in, so it should be fun, as long as my diff lasts.
Oh and i will race the mini!!!!

well as long as i am here and the sailplane is in one piece you can count me in, i will hopefully have most of my mods done by then (stage 1) and be keen to hit the dyno hard, otherwise i won't have any mods done but still keen to hit the dyno! Tim, it depends on the event.
Slack ones eg Mallala general practice days you only need a helmet and cash. One time I saw a Porsche driver doing it all without a helmet, nothing happened until someone else pointed it out to the "stewards".
Organised track days have a much higher level or requirements and the cars actually get scrutinised. They usually include the extinguisher, bonnet strap and blue battery marker on the bonnet.
Drag strips also tend to like you to have a catch bottle on the radiator overflow so you don't dump coolant on the track.

no extinguiser required. Not for test and tunes anyway.
Safe driver, hmm... As long as you don't do a burnout over the start line on radials and keep as straight as possible then you will be fine
They don't usually have scrutineering for test and tunes, they just check you are wearing the right gear and off you go. But make sure you have no oil or water leaks as if you do and the start line guys see it you won't be allowed to run. I am talking pretty major leaks here also.

Oh yeah I don’t know what you are talking about re the bonnet straps? As long as your bonnet closes you are fine. Infact, Jeff Hogan didn’t even have his shut properly once (accidentally) and had a run. Stayed down at nearly 160km/h luckily!
Peter: they only check for that sort of stuff at ANDRA meets. Test and tunes are just that a place for regular street cars to go and test and tune. As long as they are mechanically safe they will be fine to run. I have never seen a car with the battery market on the front of the car either only on the rear.

not to mention you need to have a fluoro yellow (or orange) high visibility vest an orange "STACKHAT" is the ONLY helmet that they will alow you to race in. Sunscreen must be worn at all times, pink zinc will give you a better E.T! And 'placings' in ie:-starting position will be given to the person who does the best 'something about mary's' .." FRANKS & BEANS!!!!" or whoever finds the stewards baseball hope that helps cheers matt

yeah you'll be right tim, come along, i may be able to get close to someone's time.
I have raced with nothing special on my car, just a bike helmet and you will be fine.
May be able to organise a helmet share with people if they don't have one. As only 2 people race at one time.
Oh and burnouts past the start line are only if you do static burnouts aren't they? like when you use the brake? I did a burnout past the start line and had to revers no one said anything. Wasn't a smokey burnout though.

Ok best service ever from Peter at QLD torque converters. He is in brisbane and I am on Sunshine Coast. He just rang me and told me my converter is ready. I was going to have to take a day off work and drive down there. He said that he is heading to Harvey Bay on Tue and can drop it in for me at my house! And he only charged my $360 for a custom 4000rpm stall fully rebuild, furnace blazed etc. Peter is the man!!!
I will get this converter in after I get my microleb tuned with stock converter.
