am running in a bit of a problem. My T04 exhaust manifold is different to my t04 turbo flange, its much bigger flange. Man have to go hunting for a T04 exhaust housing. Crossing my fingers.

Danny, Maybe your manifold is a T3 flange? And the turbo you had was a Hybrid unit? Just a guess. I guess there are too many types of langes on turbos over the years too. Hope ya get it sorted.

called Garret and got quoted $380 for the T04 housing. But they wouldn't sell it direct to me. went to their distributor and their distributor in Melb does not carry stock. Time is running out for me. hope to find someone in Syd tomorrow who can get it off them and send it down to melb.
Mate, give me a call tomorrow........err, later today, hehe. If you can fix it up on a credit card or something, perhaps I can pick it up and get it sent off for you. 02 9739 6369 or 0414 447 658

Thanks Rainer & Simon, I've found another distributor of theirs and they guaranteed me that I'll have it by Friday. One more issue I've just realised, the housing does not have studs or bolt holes for dump pipe. Called them for the the Vband kit but too late the last despatch had already gone. Guess I have to weld a pipe onto the housing. Had the oil feed line made up yesterday. working on oil return pipe and intake pipe at the moment. Hope everything will go smooth this time. Will book Errol for the tuning on Monday or Tuesday then off I go. Will try and be at WSID by 5pm (what time do I have to be there?)

thanks for the info Rainer and Jeff. I'm working my a*se of to get the car back on the road. The bloody wastegate still hasn't arrived yet was supposed to arrive last Friday.
ANy other crucial info I need to know for the scruitineering?
Just make sure it looks legit. Last time my mate went up, he didn't even open the bonnet all the way, and the guy just said "thanks, that'll do". Make sure the battery is clamped down and no major leaks, and you should be fine.

wastegate turned up today at 12pm. it's a fr*aken 50mm and it doesn't look like it's gonna go in easily. Hope it won't hit anything. Have got everything in except wastegate. Will have it tuned tomorrow and off I go for WSID.
As for scruitineering, will they require to block the overflow bottle? I normally stick a bolt in the hose and use a cable tie to tie it up, will this do?
I haven't been out to WSID myself as yet, but used to do the same at Calder (stick a bolt in the overflow tube). - I'm sure that'd be fine. Hope the wastegate fitting goes well. - See you soon bud.

Sorry all, I won't be coming to WSID as the wastegate is way too big and the design of the exhaust manifold doesn't leave much room for the 50mm wastegate. Bloody hell, I've been working 13hrs aday on the car to get it ready for tomorrow and the stupid wastegate stuffed everything up. Should have gone for a smaller one. I will go to Calder or HeatheCote when the car is done.
Bummer Danny. That b*stard Murphy always stuffs things up when there's a tight schedule. Nevermind, get it done properly and then let it rip. - Good luck and let us know how it all goes.

I just got back from W.S.I.D.A good night for me here is my time sheet (left lane)I got my 13.859sec pass I'm stoked.
Good runs from rainer at the end of the night but both simon and rainer had traction problems(unlucky and would get better times if they can get it to the ground).Way too mutch power from simon no matter how mutch he tried he just kept loosing traction every gear(dumbfounded he was).Nice to meet you rainer.
Cheers Jeff, great to meet you and Simon too. - Congrats on your time.
Yes it was a good night for it. I think the fight must have hurt the numbers. Anyhow, good for us, with not too long a wait in between runs (I ran a total of 8 times myself).
The best I could manage was 13.26 @ 105.1 mph. Traction got better towards the end of the night thankfully. - The last three runs were particularly fun, toasting a nice looking series 6 RX7 every time.
Yes, too much power for Simon to get down, though I think he'd be much better off with some softer shocks in the rear end and some decent drag rubber as we talked about whilst there.
Hmm... drag racing... what in interesting "sport".
Anyhoo, here are my excuses for poor times: - No traction, 1st thru 4th gear - Axle tramp, even with brand new cradle bushes
Yes, these probably could be fixed by adjusting the suspension. Unfortunately, I was missing 4 tiny little screws to adjust the rear shocks, so they were set mid-way between hard and soft.
275 wide street tyres (Falken 512) weren't nearly enough to put 500hp+ to the track.
The power certainly is there though, trap speeds were consistently in the 110mph (178km/h) region. Just couldn't launch or prevent the tyres from spinning at high rpms in any gear.
Hey all, I am a virgin at this, having only just signed up after being an avid fan of this forum since February. I became addicted to Soarers after Jeff Smith, its all his fault, took me on a cruise from Queanbeyan to Batemans Bay in February, and I am now HOOKED!! I did have the chance to go to the drags last night with Jeff and watch him race, which was an awesome night, and was lucky enough to see him do his best time yet, 13.85!!! I did also have the chance to meet Simon and Rainer and watch them race, which was exciting. It was a bit disappointing not seeing 2 soarers race against each other, hopefully next time though. So I look forward to one day owning my own Soarer and beating Jeff down the 1/4 mile!!!
