All i'm trying to say is that there is no point to let these scars get in the way of a potentially nice relationship with someone else. I guess i learned to "sense" when these things are about to happen so i can use it to protect myself. But even if i get hurt again i hope i learn something from it. At the end of the day, i don't want to close myself up and not let anyone get close to me. It did happen before and i really don't like it. What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger right?

problem is, what if that "protection" or looking for any signs of things that are about to happen end up getting in the way of the relationship, and you end up wondering if it didnt work cos you didnt give it 100% cos you were worried about getting hurt again, or if it just wasnt meant to work?? Its a question that ends up doing your head in - just like "who's name is written on Calvin Klein's underwear?"

All I know is, I've hit a point where I really cant be bothered getting involved in something unless it looks to be the "real deal", or something "long-term". Problem is, combine this with a general apprehension/lack of confidence/default thought process of "she's not really that interested, so I'm not gonna take too much of a risk here" and I probably come across as being fairly dismissive or not fighting too hard for a girls attention. In my opinion though, I shouldnt have to fight - if she likes me, she likes me, why play games?

meh. anyways.

not a soarer, but very hot - SPOTTED: current model Carrera S, gun-metal grey, 18's, plates [30T], cruising mounts bay road about 10:30am today. Turned onto Hackett, gave it a bit of stick through 2nd once the traffic thinned out down the southern end towards Broadway. Love that porka exhaust note!!

Or what if your whole life you've been repeatedly cheated on/dumped/used? When your self esteem is on the floor, and when you're so used to this happening, that being apprehensive and cautious about another person becomes an exercise in self preservation. And we don't always get a choice in this, it becomes a reflex.

I think you'd find this is related to the type of individuals you persistently date. I've got a couple of friends (male and female) who have not had steady long term relationships for quite a while, yet have been dating all the time with different people. It never works out for them for the above reasons, yet they always go after the same type, even though it is plain obvious that it just won't bloody work. Here's a couple of real life examples:

Example #1: a 31 yr old male friend, will only date 20 yr old or younger blonde slim chicks, might last two months or so, from which then he gets dumped or whatever. And he's complaining that he can't settle down, and he doesn't know why. (I don't think I need to point out the problem here)

Example #2: A 24 yr old female friend, will only date the bad boy/really good looking types, that all chicks take notice of on the street. She's mainly after the image of being with someone like that. Almost every single relationship she ends up being cheated on. Yet she keeps coming back for the same, and is complaining none of her relationships work out.

Example #3: A 25 yr old female friend, lives in Floreat, will only date good looking guys under 25 year old who also live in Floreat, who make around 100K a year, who have a respectable job, who owns his own house in Floreat, whose whole friggin family lives in Floreat. And if none of the following apply, do not bother. She's been single for 2.5 years now, and getting depressed that 'nobody in the world wants her'.

Got two more friends in similar weird situations, but can't be botherred typing it. (I do have normal friends too you know) But as you can see, if stuff like that is a problem, you need to take a step back and look at the whole picture. Anyway, my 2c...

Dr Phils wife him because she couldn't help herself hahahahahahaha !!!

anyways, I'm the opposite. I dont get many chicks (and can admit it) so when i do get one I hold onto em like an ethiopian with a Free HJ's coupon. Not once has a chick suggested im an asshole but its been suggested many times im too nice and too affectionate and that i need to change and to be honest, im not gonna change 2 qualities of myself that i consider good qualities to please a girl or 2. A lot of guys at work live by the saying "treat em mean, keep em keen" and have a new hottie every week. I just dont get it.... some of us never win :P

Spotted, bout 5 nice soarers when i was picking my car up from being serviced :-) :-) :-)

Ben i think you need to use both things. Its good that you are nice and affectionate but they still need to know that they can't do whatever they want (no offence to any female, guys are the same). They see this as a nice thing for a while, but it gets boring afterwards. don't get me wrong, i used to be like that too. Show them that you are nice to them if they are nice to you, but the minute they start treating you the way you don't want to be treated, change and tell them to f*** off (not literally of course).
Girls like an interesting guy. That's why we have to fight for them and be clowns. I'm sick of it, but i look at it as a game so its fun.

Look, I hate to be the one to say it, but can we PLEASE get back on topic! I sit down to read through my oh-so-favourite thread on SC at the end of a crappy work week, hoping to hear about some nice Soarers around town, and what do I get? Three pages of depression!
Enough already! I really don't need to be reminded of my pathetic single-ness HERE of all places! PLEASE!!

Clearly, what he needs to be doing, is only 18 YR OLD OR YOUNGER blonde slim chicks, who are still young and silly enough to not know any better and fall head over heels for him. Then he just has to deal with the immature clinginess...

Dude, I study at UWA, play hockey for UWA meaning I train at McGillivray, work occasionally in Subi, and spend most of my recreational hours in the nedlands/cott/subi "golden triangle". I see heaps of prestige euros - its just that most of them are boringly stock, and/or driven by old guys who have no idea how to drive them.

Mounts Bay Rd at either 7am-ish or 6:30pm-ish is a mecca for Porsches, BMWs, Astons, that blue TVR, the Silver Phantom with the plates [ I ], and the odd Lotus.

I will pay that subi/west perth tends to be Porka dominated...and I still havent figured out what the deal is with South Perth being Volvo-central.

Yep, tell me about it, on my street with 20 houses, there's like two Volvos, three Saabs, and a Jag There is a ML Merc and and X5 Beemer too, nothing to get excited about though.

It's not all boring though, the hottest car on my street (apart from the Soarer of course haha ) is a black brand new SLK 55 AMG Merc convertible. His plates are 'SLK 55 AMG' if you ever see the lucky bastard. Whenever he drives by, yum yum, beautiful exhaust note, like music to my ears hey. Not sure about quartermile figures but it gets to 100 k's in under 5 seconds stock. The rest of the cars are the usual Statesmans and other crap.

SPOTTED: Five Soarers in the city last night, one parked, four drove by, nice eye candy goodness while having drinks.

Spotted a dark green V8, kitted on 18"s, lowered, exhaust, limo tint in Tuart hill McDonalds on friday night.
Another dark green one on Reid hwy and Alexander drv lowered on about 17"s, polished and they looked very similar to stock TT rims. Interesting.
Another one in Nollamara shopping centre carpark, a stock TT.
Looks like a lot of them come out on the weekends
