Doing track days on street tyres without extra pressure - on a heavy car, you will rip the shoulders of the tyres pretty noticeably.
I would suggest go 45-48 psi, but that is just based on my own experience in summer on a hot track. If the car slips around too much, you can always drop the pressure until you get it feeling about right. Or enjoy the spins

yep what Peter said.
higher tyre pressure = better handling response, less heat buildup, less wear
The downside is too high a pressure = less grip and rougher ride
But generally speaking the rule of thumb seems to be for track days and hard driving - extra 5-10psi, but you probably wanna keep it under 50, and dont blame me if you blow up tyres :D

Hi Guys and Sam
It was great meeting most of you again and and some for the first time.
I would like to thank Luke for putting this together. I had a great day and learned quite abit. It was really great fun and I wouldn't mind doing this again.
Those of you who took pictures, please post them up.

As I've been assured that there was noone who captured the "off-road incident" on film...PICS!! MOVIES!!
Was good to meet those of you I hadnt before, and to catch up with those I have.
Big ups to Lue for organising the day, certainly learned a lot about what to do (and what not to), and I'm sure I wasnt the only one. Phil, I noticed you were going particularly hard, and you seemed to be getting better/smoother across the day.
Was nice to finally give this new setup of mine a decent thrashing.

Cheers guys, hey Callum you had one of the fastest times at the end of the day so the softly softly approach paid off.
I made a bit of a dill of myself within the first few seconds when the shift kit caught me out but made sure that didn't happen again hehe. Was certainly good to learn the limits of what you can do, I was surprised at how much the Soarers do tend to hand the tail out. Its not what I'd call drifting but they do powerslide a bit!
I think Daniel had the times as his mate was getting them down, cheers to him.
I didn't take a single photo all day though! doh! I think Travis got quite a few though.
And Shane, great off, get that vacuum cleaner out!

Seconding the greatness
I just thought, i couldve borrowed one of the digi video cameras & tripod from work - my camera didnt really cut it Sam, not enough zoom. There were a couple of ok pics, nothing too exciting though, i'll put em up soon.
Oh well, next time i'll bring a work camera so we dont miss any Shane moments
And yeah that was heaps of fun, next time for a comparison/laugh i'll try jacking teh suspension up and turning tems off...

Robin - Think we all need practice! Eric in his UZ30 was the fastest of the V8s by about 2 seconds! I think he turned in about the fastest times of the all Soarers as well. Very smooth driving.
Phil - you car really sounds sweet. I must admit that I did not get to hear the other V8s there as the rest of us ran together and I was the last of the batch.
Luke - Is your car electric or what? It is so quiet! It was the quietest car there by far.

hahaha thats hilarious Phil.
Went out last night in the rain with the triangles still on the rear, went round a corner in Freo at about 15km/h off the throttle and it slid out haha
What was Eric's time?? I was under the impression Phil was the fastest of the V8's by far?
