We don't really want you to go away either
Changing the rear muffs won't make much difference. Even removing them won't make much difference.
For a quick fix, remove the single resonator (and Y pipes) and replace it with 2 pipes. Should be cheap enough and will give you best sound improvement for a single simple job.
However, if you do, pay for a bit more pipe and remove the 2 middle mufflers as well.
Then it will burble nicely. You don't need stainless steel pipe or fancy mandrel bends for this so keep it cheap and have some fun.
No-one will see it, so as long as it doesn't leak and they hook the pipe up to the hangers under the car, all will be well.
So you pay for pipe and labour which would probably be cheaper than paying for 2 x stainless mufflers and labour.

Thanks peter,
i was quoted $140 to replace both rear mufflers with hotdogs, but i will take your advice, i would like that nice burble sound, any idea what sort of price would be reasonable for that job?

If you want that nice burble sound you need a full system with extractors, I know you said you dont want to do a full system but hey, I'd put money on that if you did do it, you would be greatly satisfied with it
