Wow, I'm not a huge F1 fan, but that was pretty sad to watch. As one of the guys commented about that video on the Youtube sight, the footage of Roger Williamson and the guy that tried continuously to get his mate out of the wrecked car, with no regards to his own safety was heartbreaking. Not being able to help and just watch the wreck burn must have been devestating.

See, I read the comments everyone had posted, and I was planning on posting up some tongue-in-cheek remark about how you're all being a big bunch of pansies. But then I watched it...

I've worked in the broadcast media for 6 years and have never seen footage come into a newsroom that affected me as much. Very sad and close to home - because we all have an interest in cars and this makes you realise how vulnerabile you can be when driving.

Yes, I seem to remember these accidents being on the telly at the time. Obviously this was before flame-proof tanks etc. With regards the poor teenager who got hit by the speeding car, this was before track marshalls were properly trained (in fact I think this was one of the reasons the F1 community DID get them organised) and, from memory I think the poor bloke was only about 17 years old and I think he was just a local. I think that when he got hit, his fire extinguiser slammed into the drivers face, killing him instantly.
Also, the driver who tried to overturn the burning car himself, WAS devistated. In fact I think he never quite got over it. I seem to vaguely remember he received some kind of bravary award but I also somehow remember that even years later he was still not quite right.
It's amazing when you watch F1 of the '60's and 70's how of little importance safety was. They used to have photographers virtually next to the tracks and I have seen some races where the bloke with the chequered flag almost got himself run over at the end of the race. Pure lunacy. I know F1's boring now but at least we can watch it without too much fear of there being a death.

Wow, Tear in my eye, I remember some of those from when i was a kid ans asking, Hey Daddy... Is he ok?
SUch a reality check. But at least those guys died doing what they loved. And that was Motor Racing. It is a dangerous sport. And rules and regulations are always changing every year in every category around the world to try and improve the safety involved.
RIP all those in these clips, and all those who have died in motor racing

I found that after watching those clips, that my driving was actually affected for the next couple of hours. I wasn't traumatised or anything but I did find that I was slightly more nervous out on the very busy road, a bit like the first few days after passing your driving test or when you first pick up your new car. It was almost as though I was attracting an accident, just because I was slightly nervous.

They shouldnt be on the net. Is that guy a psycho or something. All his videos are about death and some of them actually show the blood coming out of the head of people.
Couldnt he have been like millions of others and just posted up porn.

I don’t know.
I am not too familiar with you tube. But when I click on the first clip there are more clips and one of them is called motor bike and f1 accidents I think. And it shows people getting run over and squashed and stuff.
