Pretty happy with it. Gartmore Smash Repairs (Thanks Duy) Did the Respray and fixed My Damage after a UTE reversed into the rear quarter panel and smashed it right in.

The Only thing is i have to strighten the Toyota Symbol its crooked

Its used to be Green with cracks everywhere due to "crows feet"

The colour is now standard Soarer Black.

I like my Xmas Present

I paid $1690 out of my own pocket for the respray. The Damage cost $1860 which the guy who hit me paid for (well his insurance paid for it) So all up it was $3550.

So its not to bad, That included inside the doors sprayed black. Under the Boot and Bonnet didnt get sprayed Black. As there wasnt much Green showing at all.

There is a couple minor imperfections, But for that price im not gonna complain.

Man! My car took at least twice as long as that. Maybe three times more.

Did you get a bad respray before Shane or was that someone else? Either way, glad to see another Soarer with some immaculate paintwork :-)

Had my car done at the exact same shop!

went from green to purple, inside doors and inside boot, completely ripped off my old rear quarter, re-aligned the new one (which was slightly damaged to, but they fixed that, realigned my drivers side door, fixed some underbody damage under the drivers side door done in 11 days for $3000 flat!

AGAIN thanks duy!

From what ive been told by spray painters Vinh, A previous owner in Japan had it resprayed. FSG and who ever sprayed it didnt let it dry long enough before they put the clear coat on and that caused it to get very bad crows feet.

It wasnt showing when i bought the car, But the paint just keep getting worse and worse as the mths and years went by. It was really bad at this Point. Jose, Duy, Daniel im sure a few others would have seen it down at Nialls. They can tell you how crap it was.

Hey and i ended up getting the Badges from Toyota, 210 delivered to me. So that wasnt too bad.

Goodstuff Daniel, your cars looking Good.

Heres a pic of the Damage it had and you can see my boot its practially white, due to the crows feet. The boot was the worse, but those cracks were all up the side of the car. It stoped right at front of each door were the front quarter panels are.

Looks the bizniss Shane. My TT's pretty much the same as yours was, except no crows feet, just tired unshiney paintand blisters on the roof. I too, reckon in Japan it had had an el-cheapo respray because for the first year I had it, it looked great but soon afterwards, it was all downhill.

I absolutely cannot afford even $3000 for a respray now but have been thinking of doing the job myself. Now I know I'll get loads of you guys saying 'Don't do it Tref!' but it's either that or drive round in a car that looks just so sad.

I mean, is it really that difficult to respray a car? Let me know guys.

Im sure that was a Soarer Club member in S.A who resprayed his car himself.

If you were serious enough, im sure you could ask him about it.

I forget his name though, But im sure one of the other guys remember who im talking about?

I'd say do your research, practice and mask it well. As long as your not trying to colour match, you can get a spray shop to mix the paint for you. Buy a decent gun (for the love of god, do not get a super cheap special) and practice on an old bonnet or something. The prep work is really important!

We've been thinking about giving my Celica a bit of a spray, as all the clear coat has peeled off, it was like Shane's to start with and has gotten far worse!

That depends on if you want it to look worse than it already does? I've done a bit of car painting but there is no way in hell that I'd tackle a soarer! For a 'proper' spray job, all the lights, glass, rubbers, seals, etc have to come out, then you have to prep the body right. Painting is the easy part!

I have painted 3 cars before, 1 was mine and ther other 2 was friends. let me tell 1st time i did it it was crap. then it got better. practise makes it perfect, hence why you pay so much for a pain job.

Before i got started, i went to TAFE and borrowed books and DVDs on spray painting. That gave me enough knowledge. But do remember it all depends on how well you preparing the body, only then the paint job will shine.

I started with 50/50 thinner to pain (bad decision) gave me orange peel. had to sand it all back and re start. I found that 30/70 gives the best paint to thinner ratio and off the gun it came out shiny.
