I used to work at a school, student knocked a trolly off a cupboard and obliterated the screen!! Thankfully it was covered by the school. Did an awesome number on that one though! Dead hard drive, completely smashed screen, broken hinges, snapped wireless card, broken dc jack. (I was the notebook tech there )
Thankfully my laptop is insured, $300 excess though.

Well I never! Bad luck on the screen buddy. At least its still usable after the damage, otherwise the cost of a new laptop is cheaper than the replacement screen.

My Poor Sony Ericsson P910i was droped and the nice LCD touchscreen got a nasty crack across it that cut the internal links so the entire screen only displays coloured verticle lines......
Im looking at $100-250 to get a new screen, and unfortunately they are all overseas!
Come to think of that figure a Laptop LCD must cost at least 1k! Guess your right Callum.
