Well I'm on my 5th night up here on the gold coast, I'm staying in a hotel in Orchid Ave and I really must ask, wtf is it with people with their cars and a obsession with sports exhausts?
Every single car up here has a sports exhaust, the thing that spun me out the most was a brand new Merc Van with the biggest fcuk off tip ever, must have been at least 7".
And then they come speeding down Orchid Ave (mind you which is as wide as a lane) and almost mow over everyone crossing the road.
I fear for my life crossing a road in Bankstown, but here, I just don't bother, other than that things are all sweet.
If you read this Lew I'm coming up for a visit tomorrow arvo, hope you got time for a beer too.

Lol. I dont know about you steven but I stayed in South East Brisbane for 2 weeks (just got back this week) and have to say every second car i saw had a dent the size of a basketball and scratches of some sort.
No offence guys, but I also have to say that majority of people in Queensland have no sense of humour either. Trying to have a joke with people while on holiday often became frustrating because every joke me and my mate would make was taken as a direct insult or responded with a blank stare. I got a glimpse of what I will refere to as QLD humour at a sisters, friends cocktail party that we went to and have to say I found it pretty lame the host walked up to a friend of hers with the cocktail book and said "im putting you in charge to make drinks" the guy agreed. He grabbed the book, opened it and said "I'll look for Bourbon and Coke" in which the host and 3 other people who were nearby started giggling. 15 minutes passes then the guy stands up and says "I found it... I found Bourbon and coke" the same people started giggling again, then he picks up his can of woodstock and says "see... its right here" in which they all burst out laughing. Me and my mate just looked at each other in complete disbelief at how they could all find that funny ??? I mean come on... he could of done much better than that... like making references to the funny names of some cocktails
1 other thing I noticed with Queenslanders which I found hilarious was that within 10 minutes of starting a conversation with someone the topic would somehow turn to cricket or rugby
Other than that I have to say I found Queensland a lovely place and would love to visit again was dissapointed tho I didn't get time to go out to Lews workshop to meet the old bugger but there will be next time.

Nah, not on the Gold Coast. That's more us hillbillies in the hinterland... and its not "hey" - go with "'ey" if you want to fit in. You need to talk slower up here too but.

Heheh, funny things I noticed since moving to the over-exciting northern territory.
Queenslanders by the gazillion, I dunno if was them or the Darwinians, but everyone up here has teh "Not bad " or "Yeah, its alright " speech impediment Also, Territorians and Tasmanians seem to have a strange relationship, they often travel up and down to each other. I found that wierd, theres so many cars up here with tassie plates. ("Show us your map.....err never mind") but they are mostly feral women in their 40's.
I found the gold coast to be over pretentious, people very snarly and rude, but brissy and cairns were spot on! Sunshine coast was awesome too. Did a road trip with the boys about 2 years ago, run amok, the usuals!!
I could retire in cairns no worries.....that place has got me written all over it!

Awwww, dont be too harsh on us Territorians. Yes we seem a tad odd, but having the highest drinking rate in the country will do that to ya!!
As for Queenslanders, yeah I'd have to agree. Very peculiar sense of humour. Probably the best folk I've met here are the Kiwis', except for 1 chick, but thats mostly due to a lack of a good rogering I'm led to believe.
