hey guys, anybody got a ps3 yet? I know someone who has taken 3 months off work as of monday to get ot know his new love Hehe. so sad. Im waiting till GT5 comes out before i buy one. Hopefully the price is better by then!

I have a 360 and a Wii. Im gonna wait a few months before I get a PS3 and thats not because of the price. From what I've read, the Aus version of the PS3 is the worst of them all, because Japan and the US have had theirs for months now Sony were in such a hurry to get it out they cut a lot of corners with the backwards compatability and doesn't support nearly half as many games as the others. So yeah, im gonna wait a few months for them to rectify this then buy one... also a lot of the games that are on PS3 are already on 360 so whats the point ?

I've borrowed my mates Jap-delivered PS3 a couple of times now...Motor Storm is the game I keep coming back to. GT5 would be what keeps me to the Sony brand...though Gears of War is making me consider the 360...

Greg, the Xbox 360 is a prefered one. Apart from the blue ray there isn't much else that the PS3 has over the 360. So its got a 60gb HDD ??? so what. You can run all music and videos from your PC through the 360 using Windows Media Centre. Are the graphics better ?? Very questionable in my opinion as I dont have a lot I can compare too its hard to see but a lot of people have said that if the PS3 has better graphics it would be hardly noticable.
At the moment the 360 has more and better games with a lot of good new releases coming up. Gears of War is probably the best shooting game I've ever played.

What I love about the Wii is that anyone can play it and enjoy it. It may have nothing on the 360 and PS3 when it comes to graphics but thats not what they were aiming for. Everything went into the motion sensored controllers. At a friends party recently we had a Wii going with 3 controllers but were mainly playing tennis, bowling and boxing and even the girls (no pun intended) got up and had a shot.... and at times wouldn't hand over the controller. When I bought my Wii my sister whos never played a video game before had a shot of tennis and loved it. Its also good in the sense it gets you up and moving rather than just sitting on your lazy ass and playing

I have all three major consoles, Wii, 360 and PS3
First - PS3 game selection sucks right now. I buy games for PC if i can first, so whats left for the PS3 isn't much. GT5 is a huge sell point for sure. The graphics are stellar, no doubt about it. The unit looks amazing, and you don't mind leaving it out. The controllers are unusually light, but you get used to it. Online play is good, but the games just aren't there 360: Definately the best choice. Gears of War is just an amazing game, I've played through the entire thing with my buds 6 times now. The console is smooth, the controllers are great, multiplayer is very easy. However, it is sort of "maxxed out" if you will - games don't have anywhere to go. That being said, if they stay as good as Gears and R6: Vegas I'll be satisfied
Wii: awesome console for chilling with friends or family on a sunday. Not really good for extended play unless you play a lot, and the novelty wears off fast. However, Wii Sports and Ravin Rabins will keep you and your pals entertained because they are just so much fun!
Out of the three, I log WAY more hours on the XBOX. No doubt about it - the games are just that much better. At this point, its hard to say if PS3 will get the developer support it needs to make me play it more often. You better believe that as soon as GT5 and grand theft auto drop I'll be playing a lot more though
In short - don't buy the PS3 yet, you won't use it. If you want to buy now, get the 360, the games make it better.

i don't get the whole gran turismo thing. I think gran turismo pales in comparison to Forza Motorsport on the original Xbox in terms of realism, there's something about gran turismo that just completely removes you from a real driving experience, that's just me though. Easy progressive throttle and brake on the xbox is good too.

Yep, I've had mine for a year now and have been loving every minute of it. There are a few games on it that I have played for 250hrs+ maybe more online and off. The best part is that there are a LOT more good ones on their way out soon like Forza Motorsport 2 I'll lose myself in thawt one for a good 6 months, I poured 100hrs+ into the original and still had plenty to continue on with.

Soon you will be able to buy a X360 and the HD-DVD Add on for cheaper than a PS3 anyways.
I have been around to experience the Launch of all 3 of these major consoles..
XBOX360... MASSIVE..since day 1. Great titles out (Gears of War, Rainbow six: Vegas, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter) Great titles coming soon (Forza 2, GTA, Halo3(expected to be the biggggest game since halo 2)..
Sure the console has had a few flops that promised so much (dead rising, lost planet)
Just recently released a HD-DVD player now also retailing at $249.95 to combat the blu-ray capability of the PS3
The console is slowly developing a lot of backing, and a lot of the games that were initially being delivered as PS3 only, are making their way across..
PS3.. Big, but not as big as XBOX360. Its launch day and the buzz leading up to it was nowhere near that of the XBOX360. However with new technology such as blu-ray in the console its a promising console. The only drama i see with it, is that sony have a great habit of developing formats of storage that just dont do very well (minidisk, UMD)..i just hope blu-ray doesnt jump aboard that!.. Playstation however has a lot of developer backing, so im sure they will bang out a massive range of games very quickly. The six-axis controllers are fairly cool, but at best, not really a necessity, im sure a rumble feature would have gone a long way better. The one added plus on the controller is that it comes with a charge usb cable, unlike the 360 where an additional play and charge needs to be purchased for $35. The unit has bluetooth, up to 7 devices at once can be connected. The cool thing i found about that was it wasnt just 7 controllers that can be used on that, you can use the bluetooth headset from your phone on the ps3 and use it on live, connect a keyboard and mouse, and install a new Operating System on your ps3 (run linux off your ps3!). Can also connect your PSP, and stream content off your machine to your hand held without any buffering.
All devices plugged into the PS3 can also have its data transferred across, unlike the 360, the ps3 will transfer and save the data off an Ipod, not just stream it.
To combat this there is talk of a black xbox360 coming out, with built in hd-dvd and a 120GB hard drive, just don't know if this is rumor or true just yet.
and Last but not least, the nintendo Wii was the fastest ever sold out console in EB history. dont just think because of the lack of demand, but this is based in percentages. The Wii does have the cool features of motion sensitve controls, but lacks the finer details in graphics. Having said that, its not always about the graphics, this console is designed for those out for fun, and i think it does an amazing job! The game selection and the HORRIBLE amount of nunchucks available to the market is a big depressing, however great games like Zelda, Rayman Rabbids and even the Wii sports that is in the box is more than enough to amuse you!..
It basically comes down to personal preference, its all about finding the console which best suits your needs and wants. I personally have an XBOX360 and i barely use the thing, hell the only games Ive played on it vigorously are World Poker Tour and Fifa 07!..

The Nintendo Wii was never meant to be a big hit in the graphics department, all the effort went into the controllers and I think they nailed it. Zelda... my god, I have a hard time turning that game off at times
