| **WARNING** Pretty serious video **WARNING** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHXculgvZn4 Apparently the guy in the Ferrari lived with burns to over 80% of his body, he ended up suing the organisers for not having track marshals to assist.

Holy crap. I cannot believe how badly that accident was handled by the marshals. Why the hell did they dump the guy on the ground?! Why the hell did they allow him to stand up!? Why the hell did they allow him to move _AT ALL_!? Why the hell didn't they have an ambulance at a motorsport event? Why the hell did they attend to the car before the driver? Why the hell did they try to get him in to a van by walking and not stretcher? I hope he was paid one heck of a serious sum for such a shockingly handled accident. The organisers of the event should be mortally ashamed of themselves.

I watched that with my mouth open the entire time. As everyone has mentioned, BOY did they botch that. That's probably the most horrific crash I've watched, just because the drivers are pulling THEMSELVES out of the vehicles, crawling in pain with smoke coming off their suits. Just insane

A good example of why you must have a rated fireproof racing suit. Even on your lapsprint days, when you dont have to have the best, remember: It could be YOU bbq-ing in your Soarer. Cant believe he walked from that. What a champ!

I hadn't seen the long version before. I thought he must have died. I had tears in my eyes watching that. Just how strong must that car have been so that he could even have survived the crash??

You still got to praise the car manufacturers for the amount of safety they have now.... considering they both survived that high impact accident... Holy Crap though, that is bad...

Any idea how long ago that was though? Things have changed a lot over the last few years, perhaps a lot because of Niki Lauder's fiery crash in F1. You do have to wonder what they were thinking though, the guy dumps him so he can go play with the extinguisher - wrong priority for sure.

Tetsuya received burns to 40% of his body and was paid just over 90 million yen in 1998. He tried suing the race organisers for over 300 million but was knocked back. It seems the only reason he got the 90 was because there were no fire engines on standby and he wasn't attended to in the regulation 30 seconds or less. He never recovered full use of his right arm or leg. The bastards deemed it half his fault for not decelerating early enough...

I have a post race follow up somewhere on my ipod which covers the full extent of the burnt Porsche driver and the reason why the Ferrari exploded upon impact. Im a mad JGTC / SuperGT fan and this incident was one of the first vids I saw.

That's something else fellas...I have never seen anything like that...EVER!!! I too was watching the whole thing with my mouth open. That's just fcuked up to see how they attended to the guy after the car and most importantly WHY DO THEY LET HIM WALK IN THE FIRST PLACE????

That trailerho chick was on fire for 61 seconds after their "mobile meth lab", a van parked in a shopping centre they slept in while they cooked meth. Turns out one of went to light a ciggy and the ethylene fumes just went BOOM! I think ferrarri boy will come out alright considering... |

See the rider at the end running out to try and help the guys who were removing his bike?!?!? Both accounts, just goes to show how dangerous motorsport can be... especially when we least expect it, and people don't think..
