Reason I'm not driving today :-) Of course I don't believe in this rubbish, but better be safe than sorry huh.

Other than that, just had three pints at my pub lunch today, back at work now, too lazy to do anything, and I gotta finish somehting off by today. Actually, this pretty much describes my every day of the week haha. Nah, nothing out of the ordinary here sorry folks.

Hmmm, funny you say that Callum. Now that you made me think about it I just realised I haven't done any proper 'accounting' for yonks now. All I seem to be ever doing is tax research, legal/tax structure setups changes and analysis, searching for any possible loop holes and dealing with ATO problems. My job role has taken more of a legal nature... numbers, what is that? I haven't used a calculator or a spreadsheet (apart from viewing sh|t) for quite some time now too! To be honest it sucks, coz I like dealing with numbers rather than legislation (I'm sick and I need help, I know)!

I'll use that excuse next time we lodge something late hahaha! I shall expect a surprise audit from them soon.

Dear tax payer

We believe your organisation is conducting its financial affairs while under influence of alcohol. We're not sure how we can merge the tax act with the road act, but we're sure we'll find there's something illegal about that. In the meantime please get ready to lube up your ass while we anal probe your all your financial records in order to detect any possible 'drink-accounting'.

Yours Sincerely

ATO

Today (Fri 13) my son-in-law lost his $70000+ a year job because the company he worked for (Australian Liquor Marketers) decided to pull out of Hobart. The b*****ds sacked 20 people with no notice. He and his wife had just bought a new house too.

I flew to Adelaide to pick up a Soarer on trust, and to drive it to Melbourne, where I was to overnight and pick up a bootlid, then drive to Canberra on 14th.

Well, I got home at 5.00pm on the 14th despite everything that went wrong.

What went wrong you ask? Virgin Blue got me late into Adelaide, and I gave the car some curry on the Duke's Highway. All was well in S.A. (limit 110 kph), where the plod goes to bed at a reasonable hour, but somewhere in the western plains of VIC (limit (same road and surface) 100 kph), I got pinged (also pigged) for 110kph. As a result of all that, I got to my B&B on Port Phillip Bay at midnight.....

but today was better, only about the same distance again, home!, with 1500 klicks for the trip, one canary, and 20 hours driving in a span of 30 hours.....got all the stuff done though and I'm going to watch ABC News to see if there have been any fatalities on the route I took (I think not)

Hey when did this happen? I thought metcash couldnt possibly leave ALM out of Tassie. If so, it means Fosters Group will need a lot more staff. Perhaps he can find a position quickly with FGL in sales. Very sorry to hear that.

Aaron, it happened basically on Fri 13th. One manager was sacked a week earlier, then the "hatchet gang" came back and sacked everyone except a storeman who apparently is going to have to run the warehouse in Hobart singlehanded. ALM is apparently keeping a full presence in Launceston, so they aren't pulling out of Tasmania, just managing everything from Launceston now.
From what I hear this is not the last of their "rationalization" nationwide. Next one to go may be quite close to you....
