Im thinking about buying a wii, I'm not a real gamer but dont mind the concept of this machine. It seems pretty cool but I dont know whether to get one or not. I also don't know what the go is with the nunchuks? do they come with the console? and do you need them for games?
If there was one going for cheap i'm pretty sure i would buy it straight up but i just need that little bit of motivation to entice me to buy it.

I've (my brothers) got one. There really cool. One nunchuk come with it. Yes you do need it for games. They come with a game so they are kind of cheap in comparison to ps3 or 360. But there a really decent console. Quite revolutionary. BTW your car is awesome!!!

The Wii is an awesome console as its cheaper than the other consoles going around at the moment and is more addicitive as well. Im currently hooked on Zelda and find it hard to drag myself away from it at times. Its also a console anyone can play. At a mates house recently we were having a barby and beers with a Wii going and 4 controls and everyone including the girls were getting up and having a shot on tennis and bowling and at times people were fighting for whos turn it was next

I'm thinking about getting a Wii, for the fun factor. I'm not really hardcore into video games anymore so something other people can get involved in quickly and easily is a plus for me. Nintendo have always been renowned for gameplay and they are showing it again.
i work for EB, and I can say, yea the Wii is a great console!, its a little lacking in terms of games out at the moment (apart from zelda!), but the Wii sports you get in the pack is MORE than amusing!..
There is a GREAT range of titles coming up june 9 though.. includng:
Mario Party 8 (killer!) Super paper mario 2 (looks fcukin awesome!) Mario super Striker (my fave) and resident evil 4!...
definaltey a console worth getting at the price its at!..

Whitfords, nice, near me! Might have to duck up there tomorrow and splurge. Will they take PS2 games as trade in? Any PS2 game? Might as well give them Crazy Taxi ( F1 (hardly played), GT3 (got GT4)...

Yeah there pretty awesome, like yourself i'm not much of a gamer or rather I used to be I just have no time now. This was the first ever console I bought on launch and it was worth every penny. Great fun with a few people around.

That is no different to ANY Nintendo console in PAL regions, we get screwed royally and you find yourself playing launch games for the life span of the console
Maurice, there is SOME and i mean SOME decnt titles on their way in over the next few months, and the Wii is not region coded so you can jus buy games evereywhere and enjoy anywho!
Euge, Mate its a great console. lots of fun. 2 of my mates got them and we had a wii party playing rayman(dancing mainly) and also wii sports, i bought one that week. Its cheap and fun for hours with friends. And i love the interaction that other consoles don't have. Plus its cheap, you can also get it mod chipped to play region free dvds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwJBuqVtLAs Buy one, its great fun..

Depends ;) Pretty much all the games you get from Bali are copies of the original game; Someone creates an image of the original disc and then you burn that image to a new disc.
For the Wii, you will need something to circumvent the security of the Wii. Currently i know of two methods... Use one of the many different chips available (I use a WiiKey; firmware upgradeable just by loading a disc and will also allow home-brew apps and GCN games to load. Home-brew means i can chuck a build of Snes9x with some snes roms on a DVD and play snes games on my Wii without going through the VC). The other method is to connect a part of your Wii's internals to a PC to do essentially what a chip will do.
I do also believe there are several other projects attempting other ways of circumventing the copy protection, such as using the USB port, using flash memory (either via a memory stick or SD card etc) or through boot loader CDs in the same way you would play copied games on a Dreamcast.
Be careful though, i think if you buy a Wii brand new now, Nintendo have slightly modified the security protection which was taken an advantage of to be different, so you may need to bear that in mind when sourcing your thingo.
At the end of the day though, its still just a Gamecube in a different shell and Nintendo have used the same security protection as the GCN.

http://www.wiikey.cn/ has some distributors listed, although they dont sell directly.
I think OZ Mod Chips do it in our land...
You will have to install it yourself or at least source your own installer though as i dont know anyone who will do it.
I'd suggest if you open it up and take it to an electronics store they may do it for a few bob.
Oh i should add that you will want to find a guide on how to open the console properly as there are a heap of different sized and shaped screws that have to go in the right holes!
....THATS WHAT SHE SAID!
Disclaimer: I don't sell or condone piracy of Nintendo or any other licensed software. The information i provide is for educational benefits only. I'm sure some smartass lawyers will find a loophole somewhere in your disclaimer
HAHAHAHAHA! Gotta love the creativity of lawyers. Thanks for the info Callum. I'm thinking of going to Bali soon, so may stack up on games if there cheap/good.

Well I bought one. Me like. Wii Sports is simple but fun, best bit is anyone can pick it up and play. Bought Zelda as well but have only played an hour so far, not bad!
Now just need to figure out how to connect it to wireless.
So whats this thing I can get to make it play DVDs?
